Rowdy Roddy. We’ll miss ya.
This saddens me greatly. I never watched the wrestling but I loved his movie. I’ve seen some interviews of him and he came across as pretty normal and likeable.
One of the iconic moments in WWF/WWE history: Roddy Piper smashes “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka in the head with a coconut during a segment of “Piper’s Pit.”
Damn. There’s goes another bit of my childhood and youth. R.I.P. Roddy. You still hold the record in my book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9rrgJXfLns
Piper cutting a promo . . . by cutting open his head with a beer bottle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzvNPq_5P2g
I named my red heeler dog after him. Rowdy was the best of the best. He was entertaining, not roided out and seemed like as regular a Joe as could be. Saw an episode where he was house hunting with his wife, also seemed very nice. This is a sad passing for me.
Haven’t worn my Hot Rod shirt in a few years...
Gonna miss his persona.
If you want to find out what a decent family guy that he was, look on YouTube when he was on Celebrity Wife Swap (swapped with Rick Flair).
May God be with you, Roddy!
Another one from his era passed a few months ago. Ron Wright {Boot} mainly known in the southeast back in the 1960’s-80’s.
Piper’s match against Bert Hitman Heart for the IC title was classic RIP to a fine wrestler.
Oh damn, not this $hit again, I remember this guy well, RIP man, had a blast watching you growing up back then.
RIP
Best heel ever. He will be missed.
