I am an anglophile
I loved reading any stories about the immigrants from Britain.
True story.
I worked with a guy that was from and lived in London. He would travel to the states a few times a year.
On one trip he was driving on a freeway near LA. He was being pulled over by a cop and when he stopped, he did what was customary in the UK. He got out of his car and started walking towards the Policeman. Much to his surprise the cop pulled his gun out, directed it at him and instructed him to lay flat on the ground.
On another trip we spent the day celebrating the 4th of July on the Mall in Washington DC. The irony was completely lost on him.
Then there was the time when he and his wife where in town and had a few extra days to explore the east coast. They drove up and down from Washington DC to Boston and back. Not just the major highways, but a number of side streets and small towns along the way. When they returned we happened to get together for a few beers and I asked him what he thought of his trip?, He said "You Americans have no creativity, virtually every town I drove trough is named after some place in England". I shot back in an instant, "We weren't Americans then".
I’m an anglephile.
Obtuse, acute, right, complimentary, supplimentary. I love ‘em all.
