Sounds like some dates I had once upon a time.
Well my brain was not on on the Grieg page when I read that. I thought you meant someone had done a dubstep version of this...
The original recording in 1969 used the Mellotron (actually two of them). Unless they disguised it well, I didn't see one in this video..
Sorry. Brems are shorting out today.
I heard that. Lots of us wish it were Saturday, though for different reasons! *hug*
Shoulda let a woman drive.
They are FAR too expensive, and right now (for the last year or so) they are pushing gel nails, with all the equipment and polish. $10 a bottle for polish.
So celebration of Saturday.
Elton John or Bay City Rollers?
Dang.
That one does come to mind, but I think the other one was composed long before there were any (magnetic read) tape decks to make Mellotrons with.
Genesis used a Mellotron upon occasion also, inspired by King Crimson using them, I think.
Yep. That’s why Sally Hansen. I think they are still under $3. But I need to check.
*tagline*
Quite a few bands used the Mellotron back in the day, but it was an inconvenient instrument to road because of the design.. Much better adapted to a studio setting. The Beatles, Asia, Genesis, Moody Blues, Tangerine Dream, Rolling Stones and quite a few others used a Mellotron on some of their albums.
Rick Wakeman (Yes) has said that he loved the sounds but hated the instrument because it wouldn't stay in tune and in one performance of the 18 minute long 'Close To The Edge' with the rest of the band playing in Ab, his Mellotron wandered down to F... The comment 'Tuning a Mellotron doesn't" is attributed to him (and to others.. ;-)
With today's technology and digital sampling and software synthesis about the only time you will see a Mellotron is in a museum or a retro show.
Yes, I do know that Mellotron is supposedly still making them..
..but for now, I'll stick with my Roland stuff..
*correction to tagline*
Look! My Employee Number at Signetics and my VFW Ladies Auxiliary Number! YAY!
Now, I can go to bed.
Later!
For instance, the comment is also attributed to Robert Fripp (King Crimson)..
My toe has a lump on it, and it’s a funny color, but I don’t think it’s anything serious, as long as I don’t drop anything else on it.
Rick Wakeman is still at it.

Or if you prefer the music mostly from the master of keyboards himself (although the singing isn’t as good) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0iBTiQFpoA
He’s put on a bit of weight since Yes...
But then, he IS almost as old as I. And I am a bit above what I weighed in the early ‘70s myself.
lol. funny pic

Sort of a homage (loosley) to a Korean film set during the Vietnam war, mine is set in the distant future and the enemies are unnamed (aliens)...
