Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for his role in using underinflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game was upheld by commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday.
In making the announcement, Goodell cited new evidence that Brady willfully obstructed the investigation by destroying his phone on or about June 23, the day of the appeals hearing between Brady and investigators.
Based on Ted Wells' report and the evidence presented at that hearing, Goodell concluded in his decision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support, the actions of other team employees to deflate game footballs below the levels called for by NFL rules. ...

And only the Patriot balls were underinflated by NFL standards.
Not if he was suspended for obstruction.
And... For full disclosure purposes, you are a fan of?
Tom Brady: I rest my case.
I’m not an NFL fan, but in full disclosure, I moved to Indy recently. People tend to think that makes me a Colts fan, but it’s not true. I love college football. However, I don’t care for cheating at whatever walk of life you’re in.
I’ve been a Buckeye fan for about 20 years. When Tressel had his tattoo-gate scandal, I wanted him out. I want fair play, and may the best man win. I don’t like cheaters or cover ups. Period.
Sometimes cheaters win, though, and I expect karma will sort things out eventually.
The whole case is based on the fact that one game day employee spent about one minute in the bathroom before the game. The psi of the footballs drops due to colder weather. There is no proof whatsoever that any of the footballs were manually deflated. In fact, the data is inconsistent with the footballs being manually deflated.
The case against Brady is not about the footballs. It is about his phone. There is nothing in the players collective bargaining agreement the requires a player to surrender his phone. Tom Brady does not want his private and personal information to be leaked. He does not trust Wells. And rightly so.
When Bob Kraft didn’t fight the $3mil fine and the forfeiture of next years 1st round draft, he basically admitted Brady and/or the Patriots did something wrong.
I rest my case.
I don’t think they actually have a rule about submitting to NFL investigations. Which is another reason this will over turn in the courts, the listed punishment for tampering with game balls is a couple of grand, no suspension. I don’t think Goodell wants to stand up in court and say he’s suspending Brady for being rude to the investigator, that too will certainly result in getting overturned.
No he didn’t. He OUTRIGHT said he felt it was in the best interest of the league to put the situation behind them even though he felt his team did no wrong.
He’s one of the 32. I rest my case.
Sep 10 - Pittsburgh
Sep 20 - @ Buffalo (Pats always beat Buffalo)
Sep 27 - Jacksonville
Oct 11 - @ Dallas
At worst, Pats will go 2-2 against these teams with their backup QB as they always beat Buffalo and Jacksonville is pretty sad. Then a well rested Brady will come in and tear it up the rest of the season.
LOL, You guys really bought that line of BS? If Kraft truly thought Brady was innocent, he would have fought that punishment tooth and nail. ....Homers, gotta love ‘em.
Watch your language, Ronald.
LOL. What language?
And now, this case will be settled in Federal court....
************************
You are only one of several others who have posted that on this thread. ....My question is: Why would ANY court agree to hear the case?
The NFL (Goodell) hasn’t broken any laws, but only enforced their rules as a private business. It’s no different than any other business suspending an employee a few days without pay for breaking a company rule.
Beyond the court or no court situation... Kinda strange that the Patriots led the NFL in fewest fumbles by running backs, isn’t it? Underinflated balls are easier to hold onto!
The Patriot balls were below the required Psi, which is how Brady wanted them.
And they have been doing it for quite some time.
Amazing how none of the Patriot supporters say a word about those 'innocent' 2 employee's being suspended if nothing happened.
Roger Goodell needs to resign. He has nothing on Brady. I hope Brady sues the hell out of him and forces Goodell’s resignation. Goodell is an embarrassment to the NFL.
Jim Gray just went ballistic on Hannity defending Brady. Said it was the biggest miscarriage of justice he had ever saw in professional football and the most boneheaded decision in the history of the sport. He held back no words.
