Get rid of that crappy bullet.
The 6.8 would solve nearly every problem.
As an Infantryman back in the ‘80s, I agree. 5.56 is too small for most battlefields and is really only suitable for an unobstructed environment of 100 yards or less.
6.5 or 6.8 minimum. My personal fav is 7.62 x 51 (.308)
I have no combat experience but I do talk guns with vets at my local Rod and Gun club. The Vietnam vets I shoot trap with say they wanted something with more punch but the younger Iraq/Afghanistan guys seem to like their M4’s.

Israel makes a 5.56 with a 77 grain bullet that the USA has been purchasing from IMI. Much better.
