Outraged protesters stood outside of the apartment complex where the state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland lives. The DPS officer is currently on desk duty but protesters say thats not enough. They say the investigation is moving too slow and they want the trooper not only fired but indicted.
On a day when it felt like it couldnt get any hotter, Quanell X and protesters lit their own fire.
I'm a speak frank to you, in that cops mind he was saying to himself who does the N-word think she is talking to me like this. And that's when he said get out of the car I'll light you up. Well since you like lighting up black women, there's a whole bunch of black men coming today. Let's see if he's going to light some of us up, Quanell X said.
Deputies guarded off the front entrance where Trooper Brian Encinia lives in Katy and neighbors watched, as many kept saying if it werent for that trooper Sandra Bland would still be alive.
I asked Imani Windom: what's your message to the trooper specifically as being a women who could put herself in Sandra Blands position and mindset? You should think before you react just because she might have been rude, that's not against the law ...what she came off as in her strong voice ...she shouldn't have been treated that way, Windom responded.
Even Gloria Rubac a white woman stood with a sign that read Black Lives Matter.
I also believe in the slogan black lives matter because I think we have to say that white lives have always mattered but in this day and age with the epidemic of police shootings I think it's a priority for all of us to say black lives matter, Rubac said.
Protesters ended with prayer and a hope that their prayers would be answered. We also asked Quanell X if Sandra Blands family was on board with Sundays protest and he responded that it was an action he called for.
“but did cite the failure to signal lane changes”
Utterly false....a warning is NOT a citation.
I am aware of the sequence but again it is irrelevant. He had the authority to order her out from the moment he pulled her over until the stop was over.
There is debate among experts as to whether he could order her to put out the cigarette. It is a grey area. But her demeanor was certainly justification for him to feel it would be safer to have her step out, so he could look for bulges that might be weapons or safely look for weapons or drugs and paraphernalia in plain sight.
There is legal assumption that the officer’s safety is at risk throughout any stop, so even the slightest bit of concerning behavior by the driver would be viewed as a valid reason to order her out, though he needs no specific reason at all.
Well I am glad your friend didn’t assault the cop and hang himself.
There was no abuse of authority in the Bland case. You can disagree with his law enforcement style, but he broke no laws and violated no rights.
Years ago, when I was loving in Houston (late 80s), I was pulled over by a cop when returning from a day down at Galveston.
My crime - not wearing a seatbelt!
When the cop came to my car to explain why he pulled me over, I said “hey, I thought not wearing a seatbelt was a secondary offense!” He explained that that it was a primary offense, and enough to justify pulling me over.
The cop was professional during the whole matter, I didn’t mouth off to him. He let me off with a warning.
End of story. I didn’t go to jail and I didn’t commit suicide.
You do understand that “cite” and “citation” are two different words with two different definitions, do you not?
Personally I think it was a request, but one could argue that in context it was a polite order.
“Would you please step out of the vehicle, sir.” Order or request?
“Please put your hands behind you back, sir.” Order or request.
Again it is a moot point. Whether the cigarette thing was a lawful order or request makes no difference. He had the authority to order her out of the car at any time.
Can anyone tell me why Sandra Bland was in jail for three days because of a stupid lane change?
Well since you chose to call me an "idiot"...my IQ is germane to that statement.....BTW my IQ at last test was 126 and I am a licensed Master Electrician.
Perhaps you dont know what the term "idiot" means....wouldnt suprise me.
As I pointed out to you, you didnt even get the first thing you said right.
Just because you type something of FR doesnt make it true....she was ordered out of her car after questioning the request to put out her cigarette....period.
You can read her arrest report and clearly see what she was arrested for,
Do you have a link?...I would love to read the arrest report to see why the cop ordered her out of her car or if he even noted it...that might clear up a few things.
yet here I have you telling me she was arrested for not putting a cigarette out... which is WRONG.
Here is the transcript notation previously posted in this thread...if you cant figure this out...then I will ask you what your IQ is:
TROOPER: Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?
BLAND: Im in my car. Why do I have to put out my cigarette?
TROOPER: Well, you can step out now.
What part of that arent you getting?
So I dont see any reason why I or anyone else should discuss this matter with you, because you dont even understand what happened.
*looks at transcript*
Uh... yes...I can understand three simple sentences and glean the meaning of them in linear time...thank you very much....sorry you cant.
Then you post back to me pictures of some faggot and babble on about big dogs and little dogs, so yeah, I dont even need to know what your IQ is.
Buttons that are easy to find...are also easy to push.
And I am just responding to your posts after I told you that I have no desire to discuss this with you, yet you KEEP POSTING TO ME, so if you dont like my attitude, STEP OFF.
You post...people respond...you dont like it...try someplace else.
Imagine if we had people picketing the homes of the chicks on those Planned Parenthood videos, demanding they be not only fired but indicted? Liberal heads would explode.
Maybe the best practice should be to just let a smoker smoke when they get pulled over. If she was not addicted to nicotine, she may be alive today. That said, based on the transcript I think the aclu is going to chew up and spit out this town’s police force with the help of The Justice Department, just like Ferguson. All because of cigarettes.
That may well be what she was doing but it was a legal stop. He was within the law to ask her to put out her cigarette and to get out of the car.
Nothing escalated until she refused those lawful orders.
Please remember, unless something changes, she was driving under the influence and she did kill herself.
The officer had no hand in either case.
And so, because she questioned why she had to put out her cigarette, she deserves 3+(barring her death) days in jail.
Well, we now know who our #1 copsucking jackboot fan on FR is, don't we.
Copsucker, because bootlicker is too polite for those who mindlessly support their own repression.
This is what you said. It is clearly wrong. If you want to know why she was arrested, then google Sandra Bland arrest charge, and perhaps you will learn WHY she was arrested.
I told you that I have no desire to discuss any of this with you, because you don't even know the basic fact of this case, which is why she was arrested, and that is true.
I called you an idiot as a result of your posting pictures of that crying faggot to me. I do not need to know what your IQ is, because on this subject you are behaving like an idiot, so I really don't see any need to talk with you about it.
I am glad to know that on others things you may well not be an idiot. That makes me happy, because I am frankly perplexed how someone can be so utterly confused and misguided on this, but it seems pretty clear that you want to be utterly confused and misguided on this.
Lots of people keep pointing out to you how you are wrong, yet you continue to be wrong, so...
Listen, if you are too dumb to follow the simple facts of the case, I’d appreciate your not bothering me with your irrational emotion based whining.
What you apparently know is -nothing-.
No, I don’t think anyone can tell you that, because that isn’t what she was in jail for.
Maybe you should endeavor to ask a question that is based upon reality.
Okay, cop-hating hippie licker.
I think because it was probably at that moment that he suspected she was intoxicated.
