"...host Chuck Todd claimed...that if he 'runs as a third party [candidate] it likely makes Hillary Clinton president.'"
That's also a line from concern trolls. Clinton doesn't have a chance against a candidate who would cut government spending much. Americans don't trust government employees and are finished with allowing them to suck the life out of the economy while robbing others.

The problem is that you will have a large portion of people who hate Hillary and see Jeb or whomever as the better alternative, while others, more Conservative, see Trump as such. Thus, if Hillary starts out with 47% of the vote, the rest of the vote will be split.
Hillary POTUS.
Now, let’s say someone like Walker or Cruz is the nominee...do you all still think Trump should jump to indy?

No, it isn’t. If Trump runs as an independent, it WILL give the dem nominee the Whitehouse. A certain proportion of the population (close to half) is always going to vote straight dem, regardless, so Donald Perot only needs to pull a small percentage to give the dems a comfortable win. Now, if the GOP nominee is Bush, it wouldn’t matter anyway.
