Sunday on NBCs the Today, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd claimed Donald Trump was looking into how he could get on the ballot in 50 states as an independent candidate and went on to say that if he runs as a third party [candidate] it likely makes Hillary Clinton president.
Todd said, Im not going to try to predict anything Trump might do. I think theres a lot of us that thought he wouldnt get this far. We didnt think he would turn in the financial disclosure. Im through making predictions about how long Trump stays wherever. I think hes reportedly looking into how he could get on the ballot in 50 states as an independent candidate. He has the resources to do it. I could picture him deciding for he feels unwelcome with the Republicans. If he runs as a third party it likely makes Hillary Clinton president or whoever the Democratic nominee is. In his mind he would say Im the reason shes elected. And I can picture him wanting to have that honor.

“Why on earth would Trump, the hero for many on here, HELP elect Hillary”
One would be asking a less whiny question by asking “Why would Republicans nominate a candidate that can’t get a majority of the vote, because they are yet another big-government, statist putz?”
To: tennmountainman
In any case, my vote will go to Cruz.

We know who is voting in online polls for Trump, and nearly all of us are intelligent enough to know the difference between Trump and Walker.

Let him go independent, and let his supporters stay Democrat. After he and Hillary lose, they will no longer have so much money and time for influence in socialist politics.

Image a debate between Trump and Hillary? Or Trump and Bernie? Fun TV!

If he was affiliated with Hillary, he wouldn’t be attacking her as he is.

So, who is there?
Trump can talk, but gives no specifics and has been kinda weak on Amnesty lately.
Ok, so he talked about Veterans issues...but what else?

But, I have thought about this as well..
Cruz is getting a HUGE war chest. If he doesn’t win, or sees that he won’t, I wonder if he will keep the money he has raised for a future run. Is that legal?

He is up to 7% now I think...
And if you buy those polls, I have a bridge in the middle of the Atlantic for you.
Please read the internals and do the research...these polls are meaningless.

I’ve posted the following several times but not with any sentiment against Cruz. It’s what Trump supporters are trying to do to Cruz’s campaign with their push. They’re trying to make a joke of it.
Trump/Cruz: Entry of the Gladiators!

The irony and sarcasm on my part are intentional. The two are not alike at all. Any sincere thought of the two running together is ridiculous.

Good question. I don’t like to believe the media...and lord knows they have agendas.
However, this isn’t the first time we have heard wanting to go 3rd party recently. He could put all of that to rest by AFFIRMING he is a committed Republican. If anything, the mere suggestion of him running otherwise is the fault of Trump.

If anything, Trump’s value lies in making Cruz appear tame to the weak kneed types.

Trump is a master negotiator and this is part of the process to get the respect he’s due from the RNC. The RNC will decide they’d rather have him running as an R than an I.
