Sunday on NBCs the Today, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd claimed Donald Trump was looking into how he could get on the ballot in 50 states as an independent candidate and went on to say that if he runs as a third party [candidate] it likely makes Hillary Clinton president.
Todd said, Im not going to try to predict anything Trump might do. I think theres a lot of us that thought he wouldnt get this far. We didnt think he would turn in the financial disclosure. Im through making predictions about how long Trump stays wherever. I think hes reportedly looking into how he could get on the ballot in 50 states as an independent candidate. He has the resources to do it. I could picture him deciding for he feels unwelcome with the Republicans. If he runs as a third party it likely makes Hillary Clinton president or whoever the Democratic nominee is. In his mind he would say Im the reason shes elected. And I can picture him wanting to have that honor.

making hillary clinton president was likely his goal all along.
“He will if the GOPe lies and cheats in order to give JeBush the nod.”
What would they lie about? How would they cheat? How likely is it that Trump would not expose the shenanigans and turn them to his advantage?
Not his fault.
His PLAN.
“Why on earth would Trump, the hero for many on here, HELP elect Hillary by running 3rd party and WHY, if Todd is to be believed, is he ALREADY working to get the nod as an independent.”
More to the point, why would someone who is winning in the polls and has a fair chance of getting the nomination bother with Second party run?
Answer: he wouldn’t. If he is looking into it, it’s with the idea of keeping the gop leadership on a short leash.
So, are you saying he has planned to run 3rd all the time?
He keeps flipping on this issue, RKBA. Why?
This will just enhance the idea that Trump is only in it for Trump. He knows if he runs 3rd party, he will give the nomination to Hillary.
The GOP knows this as well...unless they are supremely confident that their candidate will win regardless and that Hillary is so bad, it won’t matter.
Glad to have you back on board. Any other questions?
UpChuck is praying he runs Third Party.
It gains nothing to him and costs him $$$
Your posts make you sound dense, uninformed.
Your question is no exception.
LOL,
Well, thank you for the compliment. So, has he been planning this the whole time?
Please post something that is erudite and completely informed...I look forward to reading it.
Dammit, I’ve already stated your posts sound like that of a fool.
Nothing ticks me off as much as someone who thinks my statements can’t stand on their own.
No, they feel they have to add additional evidence, as you have done.
Buzz off.
“How could that happen?”
Who makes, and enforces, rules for this sort of thing? The GOPe can twist the rules to allow or include anyone.
Nice
He’s well on his way to making a mess of this election.
Hopefully, he gets out. But his ego is too big to allow that.
Good morning! No questions from me. I can see you’re having another heated debate.
As for Trump, I think he’d be smart to keep the second party thing on the table and return to it periodically. This guy is a negotiator, he realizes he isn’t the chosen one per the gop leadership and that they’ll do everything they can to stop him. So he basically says, if you don’t play fair, I’ll ensure that your chosen candidate loses anyway. No reason for him to go second party while he’s winning, but as we all know, the gop is capable of endless shenanigans.
Where I think that strategy isn’t so good is where it assumes that the gop cares about winning. They’d be perfectly happy if hildabeast won. She’s another crony for the uniparty. Where things start getting uncomfortable for the gop faction of the uniparty is when the same outsider dynamic takes hold in the rats. Hildabeast is having problems and might not close the deal. That leaves the gop faction of the uniparty in a double bind; sanders on the left and Trump on the right. Neither are friendly to their interests.
As for Trump being for Trump, how is that different for any other politician? Politicians are for themselves primarily, and everything else secondarily. And I pointedly include Ted Cruz in that observation as well. He hasn’t exactly hurt his future career prospects by becoming a senator and presidential candidate.
Not a heated debate...just pressing Trump supporters for details. The last day or so has been VERY telling. I think the wheels are about to come off of his campaign. Just a feeling, but we will see.
The problem with the logic that Trump needs to play the 3rd party card and that he is a good negotiator (both of which I agree with you on) is that his supporters LOVE his “courage and conviction”. His constant flip-flopping on this issue makes it sound like this was his plan from the beginning.
Also, I know people will call me a RINO troll, etc, but if Trump TRULY cared about the future of America, he wouldn’t run third party. He knows, as do those of us who aren’t blinded by Trump, that he won’t win a third party bid. Thus, giving Hillary the win. All of his supporters keep saying that Trump loves America....well, he if this is the case, why destroy the next 4 years of this country by helping to elect Hillary. That having been said, if Jeb is the nominee, all bets are off.
Finally, people on here keep the belief that Trump and Cruz will form a ticket together. They will not. Unlike Trump, I think Cruz believes the best way to win is a REVITALIZED 2nd Party...like Reagan said. Help elect Conservatives at ALL levels and crush the RINO’s this way.
I think this shows that Trump isn’t the man they say he is...again, just my opinion.
So, asking you to clarify your position amounts to you acting like a jerk. If you cant’ answer, don’t. But my question is valid...
Do you think he had this planned the whole time and WHY?
Who is the jerk here, me for refusing to answer, because it’s been outlined here on FR a thousand times, or you for pretending you don’t know?
It is not like that has not been obvious from the beginning....It worked for the last Clinton.
I don’t think that’s legal, but I’m no expert.
