WHY? I mean, have we been reduced to THIS? Is America this far gone? We seemed like we were on top of the world, then WHAM. My goodness, this is tragic and horrific. I can't believe my eyes. It's like a slow motion car wreck. What can we do to stop it? I don't know, I only pray we can come up with an idea. This is the single worst thing to ever happen. Never before in history!... and probably never again.
We will be written about, and scholars will speculate what caused all of this. It's utter damnation on a grand scale, and I bet none of you expected it. I must admit, it's demoralizing, but I know we can do something about it.
If we all pull together, perhaps we can reverse this awful situation. I don't know for sure but I like to hope. I do know the answer: GOD! If we bring God back, we have a chance, otherwise we don't.

If we are lucky we have a professor that just stood out and when you got to grad school he let you know him personally if you were worthy, somehow I was taken into the circle of acquaintances of such a man. One morning after being in the lab almost all night long I happened upon him having his breakfast at Denny’s. We got into a conversation, a deep one 40 years ago about why we are decaying. His answer? Greed and stupidity are at the root of most things that can’t be explained by any other means. If you combine the two you have the recipe for a disaster. Stupid people and Greedy people have brought us to this end we are living.
Dr. Don was a very good man and brilliant to boot. He is long gone. Like my Dad, another good and brilliant man, Dr. Don fought battles for our Liberty and what we claimed was right, I am glad neither of them is here to see this mess. It would break both their hearts.
Yes, God is the only answer but God expects us to do something. He will let us starve if we do not take action to feed ourselves. God expected David to take five stones and slay the giant Goliath and God commanded Joshua to march around Jericho to destroy it. What does God expect us to do now?

Yeah, we did. Decades ago, too. In fact, I am amazed this planet is still holding itself together even to the thin extent that it is.

I don't think its because there's no ‘fear of God’ (although there doesn't seem to be much anymore). I think it's because we're losing the sense that we are here for a purpose, that there is a spiritual meaning to life, and that life is an opportunity to better ourselves, grow beyond ourselves, and to grow spiritually.
When you take God out of the equation, it's much easier to rationalize any behavior (e.g. ‘It's justified if we kill all those who can't be reeducated. It's for the greater good.’). This kind of rationalization drives American politics right now, and the electorate doesn't care anymore - as long as their side wins.
