Art Carney made that show, just as he did in the Honeymooners. One of the best “second bananas” in the business.

The Joe the Bartender skit with Frank Fontaine was a lot of fun also.

Art Carney retired in Westbrook, CT.

When we lived on the shoreline, we ran into him all the time...he drove an old beat-up stationwagon. Always very much the charming gentleman....and he loved to talk to *people*

I think his son Devin, won a bid for state rep, as a [R]

Remember how he would always use the big flourish with his arms when he had to sign something? Ralph would become so aggravated and blow his stack.

I saw Art Carney interviewed on some show, probably Merv Griffin, and he said the inspiration for that was his own father. He said his father was supposed to sign his report card and he would always do that. Carney said he wanted to just stick it in front of him at the last minute hoping he would just sign it so he could grab it and run out the door. But he always took his time with the hand gestures, giving him time to look over the report card.
