Here’s an idea. No “debates.”
“The question about Trump is simply this as far as Im concerned, is he truly interested in the topics hes promoting.”
That should be asked mentally of all candidates. Now, we have been shown that after the November elections, the Republicans are not very interested in the topics they promoted while campaigning. At all.
Trump is not Ross Perot. This is not 1992. The country was not on the verge of being dismantled by its elected representatives in 1992. Perot probably could have won if these circumstances prevailed in 1992.
If these guys are afraid to debate Trump, how do you expect them to stand up to America’s enemies?
Well we now know who the washington establishment hates, that should clarify for anyone who is the best person for America in this election.
Actually, knowing Trump as we do now, getting banned from the debate would give him even more airtime...watch him turn that back in them, stay in the Party and still beat them.
Amazing how they can lose twice with this strategy and learn nothing!
I don’t know, if Trump runs as a 3rd party candidate, I see no other way to call it other than he’s a democratic plant to split the vote.
I’d like to think he honestly cares about the causes he’s espousing and is simply using his bombastic personality and wealth to draw attention to them to change the debate.
Time will tell which is which.
What makes some people think that Trump prefers democrats, needs the democrats, would hand over power to the democrats?
A very sound suggestion. You understand how to use TV. Rove & Bush II never did. Their approach was always pathetic to those of us who understand the medium. Rove’s failure to use the opportunity of a generation in 2000, created the opportunity for the Gore-Lieberman effort to steal the election in Florida.
Trump has one constant, Trump is about Trump, he’s taken stands all over the political map over the years. I have no idea what’s in his heart of hearts on this. He’s ran in many campaigns before, and never done much other than self promote, so time will tell where and what he is doing here.
As I said, if he runs as a 3rd party I have any real way of reading his actions as anything other than a plant to split the vote. Until then, I give him the benefit of the doubt that he truly believes in the things he is saying.
I’m glad someone is saying them, maybe other politicians will learn, speaking what you believe instead of worrying about offending someone, might not be a bad plan.
Had Perot not been paranoid--remember he was surging in the polls before he pulled out--and then reentered, but with no where near the support before the paranoid event, ending up with only 19% of the vote;--he could have really rattled the dentures of the major parties.
The other problem that Perot had--which Trump would not have had--is that he could not speak extemporaneously on television, but looked totally spaced out, reading off a teleprompter behind the camera. I have personally used TV for half hour speeches in a campaign and can attest the effectiveness, if one can extemporize.
The reason to keep the Third Party option viable, is the changing demographics, that the Left is counting on to make Conservatives a permanent minority. A strong and articulate candidate, who lets the mindless acceptors of Leftist premises split their vote between the Democrats and the sort of "Republicans," who prattle their own version of the same acceptance of Socialist values, just might pull it off.
No! I am not suggesting that that is the ideal approach at this point. But a strategy on that order, might prove our last resort, if we cannot recapture the Republican Party next year. (And keep in mind that even if we do, a Cruz nomination might well provoke a Corporate CEO 2016 version of Republicans for Johnson, such as the Rockefeller branch of the Party hit Barry Goldwater with in 1964.)
The problem is complex. So we have to keep all options open.
Plus, another historical note. Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose Third Party, which actually outpolled the Republican Party in 1912, lost to Wilson==but the mere threat of a revival by Hiram Johnson or William Borah was the whip that kept Henry Cabot Lodge from cutting off the debate that the irreconcilables finally won to defeat Wilson's League of Nations; leading to the overwhelming landslide of 1920.
Yet, all of that said, I sincerely hope that the useless idiots in our party--as I remain in the Republican Party;--those who keep hamstringing our efforts, will wake up and stop acting like amateur Nazis trying to suppress dissent. They have no sense, no integrity or courage, and no future.
I'm through with them, it's over. They are no better than the Demorats.
” He might even still win, esp if he has a cool running mate.”
Like Allen West for example ?
The GOPe’s idea of a third party is Jeb Bush joins Hillary as her VP just so he can win “something”.
“You know - reading the majority of the replies here - you would think that this country did not suffer a velvet Marxist coup with the help of a complicit oligarchy and that the Constitution is still the supreme law of the land.”
We have a lawless POTUS
A lawless House & Senate
A lawless SCOTUS
We now live in a lawless country, controlled by evil whores and Marxists.
Constitution ?
Where ?
It’s in the GOP handbook but replaced by “Lesser evil.” and the voters thereof. Maybe after the collapse we can have the charge of “Voting with Depraved indifference” added to the tribunals.
The “Law” is whatever the Oligarchy says it is.
The “law” is whatever Obama and his Reich say it is.
And still, everyone here is arguing over the political science of the 2016 election - as if this coup we suffered never happened . as if we can just vote ourselves out of tyranny.
Clueless.
“The Law is whatever the Oligarchy says it is.
The law is whatever Obama and his Reich say it is.”
In other words, our country has been hijacked. And electing one good man won’t “free” it. I agree.
“Hes ran in many campaigns before”
Trump has never run for anything before this year. He toyed with the idea four years ago, but never jumped in.
