If you like playing medieval-themed video games, you might not be just some harmless nerd you might be a nerd who is also kind of a white supremacist. At least thats the opinion of Victoria Cooper, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Leeds in England, who presented a paper titled Playing Politics: Exploring Nationalism and Conservatism in Fantasy Video Games at the International Medieval Congress earlier this month. The Middle Ages is a space where white supremacy is legitimized, Cooper said, according to an article on Medievalists.net. The maintenance of white privilege. The gamer community use historical facts to legitimize this kind of literacy.

Missy Pissy Victoria would go spiral-eyed hysterical if she ever dipped her toe into EVE Online. Holy moly.
China was and remains a “no-trust” culture.
Ironic that they use an image from the game “Elder Scrolls:Oblivion” where you are prompted to create your character of any race, to include Redguard, who are black warriors.
What tripe.
And the “study” is countered by a National Review writer who plainly states she neither likes nor plays video games. The two of them make a good pair.
How about the last time Africa sent a man to the moon?

Mount and Blade, a medieval combat game I use to play on my old pc was so much fun. One of my top games of all time for fun factor. Pure hack and slash with horses too. I think I’ll give it another try after this lame story.
That’s amazing.
White privilege ==> pre-genocidal rhetoric
Well fine. Have the Muslims make a game of the Muslim conquest of the middle east. Then, have Africans make a game about African tribes fighting each other to capture slaves from neighboring tribes. Then, lets have Chinese empire building games. Then Japanese feudal conquest games. Where’s the game that in a manner is reminiscent of Jenjis Khan? And oh my God... You mean a majority white continent, that has been at war for thousands of years, has white people? Quell horror.
These idiots just want to erase all white history. They are emboldened by the success a few people have had over the confederate flag.

I still have my AH copy of Kingmaker. Unfortunately buried in my storage unit for the near future.
It is still played by the board wargaming community.

Mount and Blade: Warband is one of my alltime favorites! There is currently a beta release (now available only via Steam, but soon will be in final release) for the Viking Conquest DLC. It was developed by the Brytenwalda mod team for Talesworld (M&B's developer). It was a little buggy at first, but with the new beta patch, it is tons of fun!! I just got the patch this week, having not played for about a year and can't believe how much fun it is. It is a bit more challenging than the base version, especially on full difficulty, but I'm a glutton for punishment.
Okay, I’ve played with it a little. The last time I did any massive multi-player stuff, it got to be too stressful. Will see how this goes for a while.
The Middle East also had some impressive history during the middle ages. Then of course you have the Mongol invasion. It is racist and retarded to think only whites were involved.
I had forgotten about Kingmaker.
I was a bit of an Avalaon Hill game geek back in the day, but Kingmaker was one I never got around to playing, although it looked pretty good.
