oh there are wonderful people in MD, no doubt, and kudos to your daughter. It was a huge win for a repub to take the governorship there! but i just have never cared for Maryland.

even apart from all of that, which is very valid, the commuting routes to DC from MD are far more limited than VA, and commuting is a b!t$H for that reason.

What she accomplished was to end her political career, unless she is a Democrat, which explains it all.

Even living in the wilds of western MD, like the panhandle, would be unbearable because of state govt. i’d be agitating to seceed.

The panhandle, soouthern MD and the peninsula have no ideological connection with the Balt/DC corridor. This is precisely why a Republican was elected governor. Succession may not be feasible but responsible representation certainly is required.

Oh come one that O’Malley had to apologize for saying all lives matter, that right there is gold.

Actually he got a bigger boos before that for saying that white lives matter.

yes, I guess, but since our own side is abysmal, it’s hard to get excited about their follies, bc I doubt we can take advantage of it! Even when I see that Hillary is virtually unelectable, I feel sure that we will make SURE she does bc we will nominate a loser.

Obama’s minions struggle to hide
The sanguine nature of the boss
But no matter how they spin it
That bad attitude comes across

This combination of his snobbery
And believing there are no rules
Since he was raised by communists
And sent to fancy private schools

Of course he thinks he is better
And more deserving of everything
From traveling on all our money
And living it up like some king...

When I got home today there was a lot of splashing and loud talking down at the river-so I decided to walk down to the trail and see what was going on. Halfway there, I could see a small-maybe 18 ft-little ski and fishing boat lying almost over on one side, stuck on the rocks in the rapids-some idiot tourist had apparently launched miles downriver at a ramp at one of the marinas or the parks on the lake, did not realize that this river is shallow and swift, and full of rapids-just perfect for canoes and kayaks-not boats.

Noise really carries out here, so I was soon joined by a couple of neighbors-it was hilarious to watch the three people with the boat splashing around and screaming at each other, but we did ask them if they knew where they were going-they did not-they assumed the river got deep again someplace.

One neighbor shook her head and said this isn’t the Mississippi you know, so y’all are going to have to get back the way you came in. One of the guys said can’t we just get off these rocks, go up to the next ramp? I can call my brother to meet us there with his truck and haul us out. We told him there was no ramp before the ones at the lake where you launched-get turned back around and don’t start the engine-just use your oars, let the current take you until you get back to deep water-the guy looked very unhappy.

We stuck around to make sure no one got washed down the rapids and drowned, and after a lot of shoving, hauling on the bow rope and yelling they managed to get the thing righted and floating free-they turned downriver and went off, using the oars to steer. I’m still amazed at the dumb things tourists will do to endanger themselves in totally unfamiliar terrain-even if they don’t have good sense, don’t they ever watch one of the dozens of survival shows?

You’d have loved today’s example of that-it was a real here-hold-my-beer moment. Michael stuck the boat near shore, hallelujah...

We’ve had rain and rain and more rain for the past month or so.

Doesn’t stop idiots from thinking they can swim across a river.

When it rains here, people try to drive across them, too-if they don’t end up drowned, they have to pay the county for their rescue, and it is thousands of $$$...
