What's with the full beards on Major League baseball players?

What is with the current fad of major league baseball players displaying full beards and their sycophant fans exhibiting the same? In todays political climate, the only individuals I see sporting that facial hair are the Islamic extremists such as ISIS who are killing people throughout the world. Is this their attempt to identify with that religion and somehow send a message that they are badasses?
Im sorry but I just dont get it
..I have no problem with men and properly trimmed beards but these players are going to the extreme. With that being said, there should be a dress code in the MLB that requires all players to not only dress appropriately but restrict the hair length and facial hair.

Mrs. rikkir would dispute that assumption.
Her first husband had the big full beard, the were together 1 year.
My beard looks like I have some kind of fungus growing on my face. We’ve been together 27 years.
Can’t grow grass on a playground, she would say! :)

You don't screw with a streak, even if it's a beard. Baseball law. It's a given that of all pro athletes, ball players are the dimmest. They are even below Democrats.
The Major League farm system doesn't recruit from colleges. They are lucky if some 95 mph pitcher finished high school.
Look at the pony leagues that skim the cream of the 12 year old Little League, nurse them along, and feed them into the Minors. These aren't chess players.

I understand Olds caught a lot of background flak 'cause of the 'stash, but when you are dealing with someone who looks at the whole world entire through a gun sight, you cut him a huss.
Thems some kind of spooky eyes...

Beards, long/weird hair (I'm not talking purple mohawks, but ponytails/man-buns on guys, etc), tattoos, are becoming more socially acceptable, and I think it's a good thing. Some people don't like it, and I agree there are some downsides, but overall I favor people being able to "express themselves" without having to conform to mickey-mouse dress codes, outdated haircut regs, and anti-beard fascism (yes
fascism dammit! I love my beard). IMHO, it's stupid to shoe out qualified people from jobs because they have a beard or visible tattoo.
I'm totally fine with the military (most of the military) having strict regulations on appearance -- but I also think, if guys have to get their hair buzzed to the skull at basic, women should too. Why the double standard?

It’s a hipster fad. If all they have are beards, at least it can be cut. It’s the tattoos and mutilations that look disgusting.

Why not just throw in a picture of Billy Gibbons while you’re at it.

DH (serious baseball guy) says that a couple of years ago, the Red Sox decided to grow their beards out like a a good luck charm (baseball players are very superstitious). They were last in 2012. the next year, they were doing really well, so they decided not to shave as long as they kept on winning. They made it to the World Series & won in 2013.
In the 70s, the Oakland Athletics did the same with mustaches (lol they won the World Series, too). Back then, the leagues didn’t allow facial hair at all.
Baseball players are funny guys. DH thinks this is just a fad.

Are you not aware the baseball sets the current male standard for hair and whiskers?
It's the fashion.
