ZEUGMA
noun zeug·ma \ˈzüg-mə\
the use of a word to modify or govern two or more words usually in such a manner that it applies to each in a different sense or makes sense with only one
Examples:
"She lost her ticket and her temper."
[My cousin] roars around on a shocking old motor bike mustache and dignity flying in the morning breeze..." Sinclair Lewis, Dodsworth
About the Word:
Zeugma comes from a Greek word meaning "to join." In ancient times, the city of Zeugma, which spanned the two sides of the Euphrates river in what is now part of southern Turkey, was a key trading link between the western Mediterranean and eastern Mesopotamia.
The Greek word zeugma was also applied to semantic structures that, like a physical bridge, connect two disparate words.

Liberals can dig the dirt but not the truth.
Thank you!
When the next lightning bolts are thrown over the MidEast, t’will be Zeus and Thor hammering the innocents: And Obola ZEUGMA’d them the bomb.
Like firewords going off overhead on the forth of July: The sheepish crowd goes “Ewe, Ahhh. Oh my!”
I learned about Zeugma and other classic and persistent figures from Mr. Daley. Then I recognized Zeugma in this line from the comic song, Madeira, M'Dear, by Flanders and Swann:
She made no reply, up her mind, and a dash for the door.

Hillary’s regal pretentions
Are now becoming so intense
She has lost her camouflage
Along with her common sense
With regal disdain she says
Putting her nose in the air
You will wait for my speech-
Steps into rudeness and snare
Of her very own manufacture-
An error Bill wouldn’t commit
A zeugma of both feet forward
Also putting them into s*** ...
Does that work?
I heard someone on Fox news yesterday refer to Hillary as “queen” when describing her dodging that female interviewer’s question with her proclamation of you’ll have to watch my interview-I thought that was funny and appropriate...
Not interview-”speech”-duh.
I don’t call her queen, unless it’s Queen Bitch.
My first sentence was supposed to contain a zeugma, unless I missed the Zeugma boat!!!!
Queen bitch, queen of mean, the red queen-I like queen bitch best, but I think any are appropriate except for queen Marie Antoinette-that is reserved for Michelle the grifter...
