Video shows Texas cops kill suspect outside Applebee’s after he pulls BB gun — WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT

A Texas man pulled a BB gun on cops seconds before they opened fire, killing him outside a small town Applebee’s, newly released video shows.

James Bushey walked calmly next to the officers before he suddenly spun around with the real-looking weapon in hand.

The two officers’ body-mounted cameras captured the explosive exchange as they fired multiple rounds, dropping the 47-year-old in a spray of bullets.

The videos — one each from the officers — were released by Palestine cops and uploaded on Youtube by the Palestine Herald-Press.

The stunning point-of-view footage begins on May 31 in the Applebee’s restroom.

Sgt. Gabriel Green and Officer Kaylynn Griffin confronted Bushey, who’d allegedly stolen beer from a nearby Wal-Mart and fled into the restaurant.

The Elkhart man stared blankly for a moment while he dried his hands.

See how quick videos of an incident get shown when the police are in the right. Contrast that to the Twin Peaks massacre.

“should he have shot the guy 13 times?”

Does it really matter the number of rounds you put into the perp who is trying to kill you or someone else?

You shoot to kill, not to stun. Whether on the battlefield or in civilian life, shooting to stun will get you killed.

is the goal of a cop to render a suspect so that they no longer pose a threat? or is it to kill the suspect?

13 shots and shooting somebody when they are down sounds a lot like a “free pass” to just kill the guy even if he’s no longer a threat.

i’m a student of history. the Nazis consolidated their power by taking over the police forces. those police forces were used to intimidate the citizenry. the willingness of the police to beat or kill a citizen on the thinnest of pretexts is how they did that. could it happen here? if you don’t think so, then maybe you’re not paying close enough attention.

A suicidal one.

Now.. should he have shot the guy 13 times?

Of course they should have...it was nighttime, they have no idea if he is fatality hit or not...he was at least 20' away and running with his gun...

Did he have another weapon on his person ? They didn't know.

Shoot until the threat is eliminated. End of story.

They did a great job...

The Nazis disarmed their citizens making it very easy to intimidate and murder anyone who stood in their way. The elites haven’t taken our guns...yet.

“Having said that it resulted from a tactical failure.”

True...should he not have been at least cuffed by the time he was outside?

So, where are the videos of the Waco shootout?

Good point. In the case of a good, clean shoot you get two sync cameras and immediate release.

I'm also reminded of a shooting a few years back where the dash cams in 5 LE cars "malfunctioned".

Rangers lost 13-0 to Angels, on 4th of July 2015, in Arlington.

Just saying.

Not being one of the officers involved knowing the immediate circumstances I cannot say. I do not know what they knew. But in any case a pat down for weapons before proceeding would have been prudent and justifiable. The weapon would have been discovered and the scene limited to the restroom enclosure if the suspect decided to make a play. Had he made a play outside of that room in the restaurant others would have been endangered. As it was it occurred outdoors endangering passers-by and vehicular traffic behind the suspect. I have no idea how many of the rounds fired by the officers missed the target but there likely were a few.

Overall a good shoot, as I said. Poor tactics.

Situational awareness. I'm not going to armchair hindsight 20/20 this one.
We can be sure this will be a new training video.

It just pisses me off that some dumbass would do this to officers who were
actually being very lenient to the guy. For what, a stupid misdemeanor?
No wonder the police are on edge all the time.

And Damn nice shooting officers. God Bless.

Delayed reaction. This delay can be the same when confronted with a knife
or other object from an aggressor. The 30' rule means it takes time to react
and the distance gives you that moment to react. 30' means two seconds btw.
This is what I was taught anyway. Other trainers have different variations.
