Foraging find: 12 lb. of chicken of the woods mushroom.
I only took that much because I had hopes of trading it to the fanciest restaurant in the area for a dinner for two.
Unfortunately, the chef/owner didn’t have time to include it in his menu on Friday afternoon. Apparently I should find large quantities of mushrooms on Tuesday, but he is definitely interested for the future. Someone tell the mycelium.
Now I am halfway through cooking and freezing 12 lb of mushroom. That is one heaped pizza box, one shoebox, and four lunch bags.
I like mushrooms on pizza, and fried mushrooms with a salad for lunch. I also like to keep dried mushrooms around to throw in soups.
