I don’t know anything about a safe diet for him. It’s fun to watch him wade in the pool, though. You don’t see a cat doing that every day!

The origin of domesticated cats is disputed and nebulous, AFAIK. The possibility exists that they’ve been making human life possible for so long that their wild kin went extinct without a non-cat species to take care of. :’) Otherwise, their genes probably will tell the tale.

Cute as can be, I want one almost as much as I want a pet Lynx. Bobcat maybe...I’m a photographer, somewhere I have some shots of a bobcat and a couple of almost grown young not far from where I sit, only chance I’ve had. I’ll have to dig a little. With over 1000 posted on Flickr that ain’t easy...
I’m a cat guy, have a black kitty apparently abandoned by her mother, had to be bottle fed for over a month, that young, turned into a pure monster...hates everybody, sometimes I think she hates me too...my niece calls her Sybil...my sister calls her cat from hell...
OK I’m fairly new here so I don’t know if this will get me in trouble, but I dug around a little and found them, my only chance at a shot of one of my favorite cats, Bobcat. If you look close, one of the young is to her left. Now to see if this works right...if not I’ll try again and do the HTML thing...

Another pretty little kitty-the Texas Ocelet
This beautiful, shy and reclusive little cat once ranged as far east as Arkansas and Louisiana, throughout Texas and in Mexico. Today ocelots are currently found only in extreme southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. The remnant U.S. ocelot population in south Texas has declined from 80-120 individuals in 1995 to less than 50 in recent years, with about half of ocelot deaths resulting from being hit by automobiles. Most surviving Texas ocelots are in the shrub lands remaining at or near the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge near Brownsville, where only 30-35 animals remain.
The Ocelot also usually gives birth to only one kitten although litters of two or three kittens also occur, but are not common. The small litter size and relative infrequency of breeding make the ocelot particularly vulnerable to extinction.
The ocelot is similar in appearance to a domestic cat although somewhat larger. The ocelot ranges from 27 to 39 inches in length, plus 10 to 18 inches in tail length, and typically weighs 18 to 40 pounds.
Its fur resembles that of a clouded leopard or jaguar and was once regarded as very valuable. As a result, hundreds of thousands of ocelots were once killed for their fur. Hunting and loss of habitat have reduced these beautiful little cat's numbers to near extinction in North America.

Thanks, being fairly new I wasn’t sure. I’ve been lurking for a month or two, finally decided to join, not many other sites online you can get an actually intelligent discussion instead of the standard fare of nonstop insults, ridicule and name calling...
Glad you like my photography. I’ve been at it for over 30 years, got into nature photography years ago. I have maybe a half dozen shots of those cats, the only wild cats I’ve been able to get in all that time.
Off topic side note, I just discovered two Red Foxes hanging around near my yard, and a pair of Prothonotary Warblers have decided to use a nesting box I built for the 2nd year in a row. Built it for the Tufted Titmouse. Going to be trying to get more shots of those soon. SO far that’s Prothonotary Warblers, Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, Mockingbirds, Cardinals, Tufted Titmouse, Hawks, Orchard Orioles, Carolina Wrens, Summer Tanagers, Hummingbirds, and Brown Thrashers nesting in or near our yard. And a Roadrunner has been spotted a couple of times across the street.
Any wonder I’m into wildlife?
