We don't have to look back to far for an example of what we need to do!

The passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11/01 knew what needed to be done even with certain death facing them no matter what their choice was! Have we forgotten already?

Forget not the words of Adm. James Stockdale, reflecting on his time checked-in at the Hanoi Hilton:

This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.

Congrats! You’re on the way to the Heinz 57 gift set! :-) (If they still give it out)

Stockdale was a good man, an American man through and through.

What the presswhores did to him during the debates was shameful.

We all feel a great reckoning of some kind approaching. The world (and this country) simply cannot continue on its present course. We're about to come completely off the rails of civilization. There are simply too many aspects of the culture that are crumbling, to sustain the 'thin veneer' much longer.

It's even hard to talk about this, as my thoughts run like a whirlwind. There are just too many moving pieces. It's difficult to fix my attention long enough on any one issue, to properly think it through, before several other bombs go off around me. And it's become relentless.

I know, I get scatterbrained myself an there are times I find it hard to sleep. I feel something is or will be going down, like you do. It is like feeling electricity in the air plus adding in the feeling of a sour stomach. It's sort of like if I hold my arm near the cathode ray tube of my TV (I still use the same TV today as we did when we bought it new in 1983) and my arm hairs stand on end. I remember Art Bell called it "The Quickening" as far back a the 1990's. I've been feeling it since then but stronger now. My father has been feeling it since the early 1970's, if so, he's ahead of his time.

As I type this, I'm listening to a clip of "When I Get to Phoenix" by Glen Campbell from a 1969 episode of his show, "Glen Campbell's Goodtime Hour." I ca't believe we went from a nation from those times to now. All I can say is, "where have you gone, Andy Williams, Glen Campbell or even John Boy Walton."

As much as I'd like to see that possibility pass like a bad dream, I fear that you're right. The enemies of the republic will not let this rest until there's blood running in the streets. They aim to kill off the real American people and replace us with new citizens of their choosing and persuasion.

I think they're going to find that they've bitten off far more than they can chew. In the end, it is they who will feel the sting of crushing defeat. We The People never wanted this fight, but if they intend to have one, then by God, we're gonna finish it.

I know. WE keep making bad laws all the time and the SCOTUS supports it. If I was on the SCOTUS, I would rule Obamacare as unConstitutional and with same sex marriage (I really have nothing against it, I have gay friends myself and I even wish them well when they are able to get married), it should have been kicked back to the States and the people to decide, the Feds should be silent on the issue, in theory the Feds have more important jobs to do. Oh wait, they are not doing those, they are too busy chasing the Confederate Battle Flag around and those that do not agree with the SCOTUS. Even with my libertarian views, I also respect those who disagree with same sex marriage and they should not be forced to go against their beliefs either. I think another reason it should have been kicked back to the States and people, just look at the hornet's nest it stirred up for all here. One side, you have a group of people who feel threatened because they do not want to compromise their beliefs and rightly so. On the other side, you have a group of sore winners who want to rub it in everyone's face. Whatever happened to "live and let live and just move on and live our lives?"

In short, I think we have two basic sides who are diametrically opposed to each other. We cannot really live with each other anymore. I've heard stories of longtime friends breaking up and even families of thy are so opposite in thought. It's just like the Civil War. I'm the one who said we are in an 1859 country in a 1938 world. It hurts me to tears since I have friends on both sides, I have some gay friends who mean a lot to me and I don't want to see them hurt. They want to move on like we all do, most of them want to live out their lives in peace. I have friends as well who are opposite and they also mean a lot to me and they deserve to live and have their wishes respected just as the other side does.

It goes deeper than that, as long as the right of those who oppose same sex marriage are protected, we can survive and go on since it is the law of the land. Most other things many lefties are pushing is the immigration issue, aiding and abetting ISIS it seem to me and just a hatred for those who are religious and/or believe in America as it was. You cannot push people into a corner either, no matter if they are Christian, Gay, Black, White, etc. However, with the in your face things going on, I see one side being cornered right now.

Bad law is killing us. Again the same sex ruling is bad law, then again, I think the 14th Amendment is bad law along with the 15th, 16th and 17th Amendments. SCOTUScare is bad law. That's the tragedy. Let me add, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is really bad law. Barry Goldwater was right to oppose it. I think because of that act, everyone with an ax to grind just has to yell and screech, "it is my civil right" and then everyone has to cave.

I think we might hit the nail on the head here, the left is using bad laws to get their way and that is why we are in the trouble we are in.

So now what, the future? Well, there are so much irreconcilable differences where compromise seems impossible. We can peaceably break up and go about our own ways. I think that is the best solution out of a number of poor choices. One side cannot keep badgering the other. However if this does not stop, we may have to fight on our hands.

I hope if and when that day comes, I hope God gives me the strength and wisdom to make good decisions and give me courage. It seem there is no way out of it. We have to get used to the idea where if we fight, we have to win. We need to make them cry "Uncle!" It's as simple as that.

It's happened in my own family. Just as in the mid 1860s, when my g-g-g grandfather joined the confederate army, while his brother fought for the north, my kin and I are split along two different views of America. We can hardly talk at all anymore because there are so many hot button topics we might step into.

As for friends on the 'other side', I disconnected from all those sorts of losers long ago. I no longer even know any liberals (personally). If I discover a person in my day-to-day life has those kinds of leanings, I distance myself immediately. I refuse to befriend grown adults who willfully support the destruction of everything I believe in.

As you said in your post, the societal pressures appear to be building toward an eventual clash between the left and right. I can't see anyway to avoid it, for the fact that the left just doesn't know when to let up and stop pushing. They want their "fundamental transformation" NOW, and they're going to get it, if they have to exterminate every single person who stands in their way.

That mindset is a recipe for war, and they're going to push us into it if they don't start practicing some of that tolerance they're famous for.

What’s happening on FR is not depressing. It’s TOXIC.

And it’s not just on FR - it’s everywhere on the alternate news sites across the digital landscape. They feel it. YOU feel it. There’s something different about this coming season that hasn’t been present before. It’s a whole different vibe, almost seismic.

Yep. The good and decent people of America are being pushed to the wall and most of us feel it. Intensely so.

As you said, there's something 'different' in the air. I think the libs smell blood in the water, and are circling for the kill. Unfortunately for them, that fish is way too big for them to eat. In fact, if they're smart, they'll back the f*** off and let things simmer down for a while before they try to take another bite out of us.

But you know they won't. There's a blood lust in their hearts and it's blinding them to the folly they're about to embark on.

May God have mercy on their souls. They have no earthly concept what they're about to unleash.

There’s no real FIX left. It’s going to be how we put this thing back together once it all blows up, and it’s going to blow.

I still think we could avoid an all-out civil war if enough right thinking Americans showed up in DC and just refused to leave until fedzilla backed down.

Yeah, it would have to be the biggest, noisiest, most civil disobedient protest in the history of this country, but it would work. It's the last chance we've got before the whole thing blows up, which no one in their right mind wants.

Sadly, I feel that the good people of this country won't seize this brief moment in time to handle this thing peacefully. They're going to wait until we're left with only one, possibly two, remaining options to settle our internal differences.

Back in 2009 I was trying to get people wound up about having a Giullotine party on the Washington mall.

Remember the TEA gathering? It was peaceful with a huge crowd and the media ignored it.

I wanted pitchforks and torches! No, I was not there, had no money, still don't. (not on radar)

I almost got the boot from here. You guys should have listened to me!!! (You think I'm kidding but...)

Hey, I was looking for an internet warrior picture and saw this, thought I could make someone laugh.

You're right. They can't be reasoned with, which is why massive protests on the scale of tens of millions, accompanied by thousands of acts of civil disobedience, is the way to go. Only demonstrations and protests on an historic scale will get them to listen.

We've got to make a noise so large, that it puts the fear of God into them, and makes them understand on a gut level, that it could well escalate to something unconfrontable if they choose to ignore us.

I'm looking to exhaust every possible solution before resorting to the unthinkable.

So did I. I eventually grew weary of all the speeches in the park with pretty banners flying. I knew then, that it was far too tepid a response to make the left step back. And it was.

Since then, every time the subject has come up, I've advocated for loud and continuous demonstrations accompanied by widespread acts of civil disobedience to make ourselves heard.

Gandhi and MLK used those very tactics to change nations - and they worked.

Non-violent protests are effective means to push through intractable political and social opposition. They're also our last available means to get this done peacefully, but the window is fast closing on that opportunity. If we tarry much longer, we'll be left with less savory alternatives.

I think we will see civil disobediance, then what happens next is not so predictable.
The left has sucker punched us.

The left wants it from us, but they may be underestimating what they get.

And yeah, the time is a problem, we have two summers of this “stuff” going on before an anticipated election.

Agreed. But bear in mind the nature of the enemy: they have had fifty years to practice incrementalism and chip away at America bit by bit. They have had the patience not to push their entire agenda all at once - remember Stalin's words, "they'll never accept Communism, but give them small doses of Socialism, and one day they'll wake up with Communism".

But now, I agree, they've reached critical mass, that threshold where they feel strong enough to attack across the board. But the frog is still sitting on the stove, not realizing what's coming.

Even the lion can be brought down by a pack of hyenas...

That's a huge problem. In short, they are sore winners. No one likes a sore loser although understanding human nature, I can see why it happens. What's worse is being a sore winner. Sure, I can accept some schandenfreude, but it goes way beyond that to the point where they will push those who disagree with them into a corner. Sure, I have no problem with same sex marriage, people will do what they are going to do, I'm sure it has been going on for a long time. I have very religious friends, I have homosexual friends and I even have a transexual (he to a she) as a cousin (and she is very right wing) and I don't want to see anybody get hurt or worse. I know most people of all sides want to live their lives in peace but there are the captains of the agendas that want to push and sad to say, most of them are on the LGBT side. If they jsut accept their victory and go on along with respecting those who do not agree with them, I'm sure we all could live with that.

What hurts me the most is if we end up at some point where we could end up having to separate or fighting them and I really don't want to but I feel like we are being dragged so far, other options are running out. We cannot have an 1859 country in a 1938 world. There will be a time when we will not care who is gay, straight, Black, White, whatever when the word will challenge us with things like hyper Islam, North Korea and so forth. We will waste a lot of resources and even lives fighting each other instead of those outside threats. Myself, I don't care who is who and what they do as long as we can pull together and fight those outside threats as one. I even have no problem with homosexuals in the military as long as they are treated like anyone else, they have the same rights and duties as everyone else and they do their assigned jobs. If their sex life becomes a problem to that, they are out and that is for everyone gay or straight.

It's a shame the level headed ones, they are there, tell the radicals to stop pushing so hard.

I guess, I'm like a Glenn Beck, wish we all could get along but I think some will be able to but some others will not. I think in the end, we might have to fight and hopefully we can tell who is who so we can apply the force to those who deserve it and to keep harm of innocents to a minimum.

As to friends who are opposed to what many of us believe, I cut a lot of ties to them too, it's a shame it is that bad. Heck, we have a lefty co-worker that sometimes bugs us who do not agree. Since work is not a place for political conflicts, I just say, "yeah you guys won" and shut up. That's another point, don't let them get your goat.

That is a very astute observation.

If I may, I think the reason the left behaves that way, is that they innately understand that anything short of fully exterminating the right, is just a short term gain for them.

They know in their blackened little hearts, that our side owns real virtue, courage, tolerance, honor, faithfulness, truth, fairness, honesty, endurance, trust, industry, patience, and even love.

They cannot overcome those who possess those kinds of qualities in abundance. They can only use those attributes against them, to beat them down, until their opponents are so badly weakened, they can deliver the final blow.

It's because in truth, they possess the polar opposite qualities and personal attributes to conservatives, and could never win a fair fight against us. And so, they push and push us to the wall, thinking that, at some point they'll crush us like a bug on the concrete.

We would be wronging the universe to let them get away with that.

I was young and not interested in politics when Jimmy Carter was president, but I did observe how awful everything became under his presidency. Then I observed how Ronald Reagan was so positive about America and how things got so much better. I registered to vote for the first time so I could vote for Reagan in his second election.
