I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.
About all I can say is that, now isnt the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.
Ive spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.
But recently somethings taken hold of me thats hard to explain. I guess Ive quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. Ive stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I cant take my eyes off it. Its distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.
Im obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, Im having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.
Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.
I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.
For one, Ted is the very first candidate Ive ever sent money to. Considering the fact that Ive been voting since 1972, thats saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, Im sorry kids. You shouldnt have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.
Although its incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, Im doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. Ive got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.
In the past, Ive prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.
I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.
If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, its not to be at least not for several more years that is, if things in this country can even hold together.
One saving grace is that Im in the great state of Texas. As Ive often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, well be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.
I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the other side would simply let us be, but they wont. Theyre going to continue pushing until something breaks. Its just how they roll.
In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on Gods green earth will be able to put it out.
Agree with all you.have said here. I am an 8th generation Texan and agree that Texas may well be the last bastion of what we once knew as America.
This battle starts on our knees in prayer to the Almighty. It starts in our own homes where we remove the things of Satan that distract us from truly seeing the evil that surrounds us.
I wept at the news of the scotus decision. I was angered when the.local news station advertised the gay pride celebration and advised that families should join the festivities and to bring the kids along.
This is a time for choosing who you you will stand with and what you will stand for. Choose wisely and prepare carefully. The storm is at hand.
Inside joke or inside poke
Yes, the general tone around here has been descending into a sort of cynical resignation of defeat, and that depresses me also. I expect more fight out of my fellow Americans -- not this ever-present wringing of hands, and striking of colors, as I see so frequently nowadays.
I've often imagined hordes of digital Obots reading here every day, and reporting back to their masters how utterly demoralized and defeated we sound. The glee on the deep left must be tremendous.
Sheeesh.....I don't even want to get started on how I feel about the doom and gloomers around here. In my view, they're doing the enemy's dirty work.
I think a great many of us are 'all talked out' now. We've written to our elected reps, voted in elections, called in to talk radio shows, debated endlessly on FR and other places, tweeted our feelings on Twitter, gone toe-to-toe with libs on Facebook, argued with relatives and co-workers, had those heart-to-heart talks with the mail carrier....ad infinitum.
We've said everything that could be said, yet nothing has changed.
Obama's wholesale demolition of the pillars of the republic have continued unabated. It's a travesty of historic proportions that no one has stood up to this lunatic and forced him to stop. Even with the Constitution on their side, and the numbers to remove him from office, they cower in fear of this pathetic degenerate. Hell, the so-called 'opposition' party is even helping him do his evil. Such is the depth of their cowardice and betrayal.
Millions of us see what's happening, and are just too dumbstruck to articulate a coherent response. All we can think is that, we've now got to DO something about it. For most, that means prepping as a first reaction, but right behind that is the contemplation of what's really coming. Contemplate that for any length of time, and a person grows even more silent. It's a lot to confront. It's a bigger thing than any of us ever imagined we'd face in this life.
As I said in the original post, I still hold out hope that the good and decent people of this nation will propel a leader of exemplary character and abilities into the presidency next year. I sincerely hope that man is Ted Cruz, as I believe he's a once in a generation leader, and the only one in the race who's got 'the right stuff' to get it done.
He's gonna need a helluva lot of back-up, though. The spineless critters infesting Congress and the fedgov bureaucracy will probably work overtime to undermine his every move to restore our country.
I feel that we must be prepared (at least mentally) for any and all outcomes, going forward. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst, as they say.
They're home schooled and their dad's a Freeper, so they've got a pretty good idea :-)
You're right. They're not going to give up a hundred years of 'progressive' gains without one helluva fight.
Thing is, if my gut instincts about the American people are right, that fight will be over before you and I can even make our way to the front.
Time and time again the will of the silent majority has been reversed, thwarted, and blocked from implementation by various shopped black robed judicial activists.
The left has realized that they can simply take what they want, decree what they wish, pass unconstitutional law after law, and the silent majority will bitch, moan, write letters, make phone calls, kick sand and dirt, but in the end, acquiesce and go to work the next day, while vowing to do something.
Almost 1/2 of the population of this country is sucking the teat, and they are dug in to the hilt, and have the entire united states media and most of the pols on their side, selling more of the vote for a cush gig in return.
All of the above is fact.
The question I have for you, in all sincerity:
Do you think the ptb will allow a president Cruz or a reasonable fac simile anywhere near the cockpit?
The 'woods' between us are thick with Freepers and other patriots. If the SHTF, I pity the feral, leftist, zombie horde. They won't stand a chance.
I'm glad you're there, Marcella.
Then Satan is a damn Yankee or a southern RINO

Scared kids I might add

Thanks for relating your stories about President Reagan. Those are real keepers.
Like your B-I-L, I didn’t appreciate Ronald Reagan for the historic figure he was, during his time in office. I was pretty apolitical at the time, and just living my Life.
The one thing I did note at the time, was that everyone I knew was doing better than they had been under Jimmy Carter. Much better. I remember thinking that I had to give Reagan his due. He was actually making things happen - and for the better.
It was only after Reagan was long out of office, that I truly began to appreciate what a great leader he was. That appreciation has only deepened and broadened over the intervening years.
Thanks again for sharing that with us.
I get like that nearly every morning over coffee. The headlines I see on FR are so horrific, that it takes me a couple hours before I'm sturdy enough to confront them.
If you ask me, the enemy is churning out these daily outrages as a battle tactic. They intend to grind us down and demoralize us to the point where we have no will to fight left in us.
It's working on some, but not all of us. In fact, I think it's having the reverse effect on the majority of right thinking Americans.
Isn’t that strange so many folks moving for fear of social isolation or children’s upbringing
I’m near franklin tn

Worst political week of my 58 solar circuits
Do whatever it takes to settle someplace among friendlies. Texas would probably be the best choice, but there are other states that will stand as tall as Texas will, should worse come to worst.
You do know there's a difference between noogies and nookie, don't ya?
sure hope you're right about that. I hope enough people are waking up so that we can reach a critical mass and put these global authoritarians OUT OF BUSINESS!
Thanks for saying that, BlackElk. Rest assured, the good people of Texas have your daughters' backs.
Now we a splitting hairs LOL
I just checked, and you're on there :-)
That could have been the problem.
