Bristol Palin is Pregnant a Month After Canceling Wedding: 'I Know This Has Been a Disappointment'

A month after canceling her wedding, Bristol Palin has announced that she's pregnant.

"I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant," she wrote in a blog post on the religious website Patheos. "Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one."

She continued, "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect [my 6-year-old son] Tripp's and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy."

Big deal. She’s a mom again. She’s shocked. Understandable.

We all screw up, some more than others. We make the best of it - God uses all for good. God forgives all sins with repentance.

We all preach to live by God’s standards and we all fall here and there. She fell. Doesn’t mean she’s a bad person and doesn’t mean what she preached was wrong or impossible. She just fell.

I can’t believe people thing she should have used birth control, as a Catholic. She has been fooled by the culture into thinking marital closeness is OK before marriage - that leads to sex and sex makes babies if you are normal and God blesses the union.

The baby has a soul - God wants him/her born. Nuf Sed.

We ought not date for fun, but discern for marriage, then marry. The culture tells us otherwise, and she fell into it. OK, so move forward new mom! GBU!

Its not the babies fault that her mother can’t keep her legs closed. But he or she will still be a bastard child. Are you always this touchy? I thought Free Republic was a PC-free zone.

The fact that Bristol is keeping the baby despite her difficult circumstances is a good thing.

Very well said, FRiend. When it comes to the Palin's, the evils of abortion are totally off the table and for that alone, the birth of this wonderful baby is precious gift from God. I'm sure Governor Palin will love and adore her new grandchild! Moreover, it's a sure thing that Bristol will never be welfare queen, a taker mooching of the producers. In reality, young Bristol is in fact a producer, accumulating a sizable nestegg. She's handled her financial affairs extremely well for a woman only in her 20s. And I'm sure she'll be a wonderful mother to the new child just as she's been with adorable Tripp, pictured with mom:

A couple of things:

Disparaging Sarah Palin’s children and grandchildren has always been encouraged by the American left and has always been “politically correct” to the American left (so you’re CONFORMING quite well with the left’s PC rules).

And, while Free Republic may well be a “PC-free zone”, your comments and presence here proves that it is certainly not an “ASSHOLE-free zone”. And THAT is unfortunate “bigdaddy”-— you can be better than that.
