I get to see him every Christmas when I watch "A Christmas Carol"
with Alastair Sim as Scrooge.
The photo above shows a very young Macnee (r.) as the young
Jacob Marley with George Cole as the young Scrooge (l.)

"The prefect English Gentleman! Indeed.
God Bless him.
The Avengers was among my favorite television shows.
(Although admittedly more due to Diana Rigg's "Emma Peel" Than for "John Steed".

Loved that show and it's theme. Read years ago he and Diana Rigg remained friends for years. She did retweet a Twitter about him, "Sad news to report yet again: a statement at http://patrickmacnee.com confirms that the Avengers star passed away today. Enough now, 2015, ok?" from SFX magazine, a Twitter account.
Always thought that MacKnee would've made the perfect Tom Bombadil.

I remember about 20 or so years ago he was on the Larry King show and King asked him about being raised by lesbian women and tried to elicit an answer from Macnee about how he grew up normal after all. Macnee quickly shot that idea down and said that that wasn’t so and that he had become an alcoholic and had all sorts of emotional problems.

That was one of my favorite shows. Mr. Steed and Mrs. Peel. A class act.
