Guess I should have read all the comments before posting! I’ve been researching the subject lately for my Highlander. Seems makers are going back to non-interference and chains instead of belts?

My 97 Sonoma 4 cyl is listed as non-interference. The timing chain tensioner broke free and wrapped around the crank sprocket. On first observation the valves looked OK. However every valve stem was slightly bent.
