Humor is not intended to slow down the Leftists. Lack of humor clearly slows us down. It gives the uninvolved, head-in-the-sand, varieties of rooted Americans, an excuse to not look at what is actually going on, as it makes us appear to be driven by negative, rather than positive emotions.
The success of Reagan was that he could address reality--ugly reality--with a smile; that was his greatest weapon in communicating.
If you think that only making fun of the left is going to beat them, the left will be laughing all the way to the halls of power for years to come while thumping you down with brutal force.
Reagan’s humor was self deprecating - when it came to dealing with the left he was utterly serious and minced no words. When he called the USSR the evil empire - no one laughed, when he started to deploy star war - no one laughed, when he engaged them in Grenada and central America. - no one laughed.
