The truth is that the virgin birth myth doesn't originate with Christianity. There are dozens of examples of it. It's a popular mythical idea that Christians did not invent.
Icaraus and Daedulus predate the Wright Brothers, but one is a myth and one was an aviation pioneer.
Since the Virgin Birth happened and Vishnu, etc. didn't, they don't fall into the same category. Chesterton takes apart a lot of that Golden Bough malarkey nicely in "The Everlasting Man".
That business of claiming that Lucas is riffing off of Zoroaster or Gilgamesh or whoever is nonsense. I said bordering on, because it was implicit, not explicit. Those kinds of objections worked on the general population in the '50s and '60s. We have since figured they were disingenuous then, and they are disingenuous now.
