In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Sophistry
Noun
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Then it suits Hillary to a T. A++
A+++
LOL....I see you eased right past being asked to be a teacher.
Related word - “sophisticated”.
Now, the World uses this word as a positive. It means, to them, having a lot of worldly knowledge, or the appearance thereof, usually the latter.
Now, the original meaning of the word essentially means “corrupted”.
The funny thing is, from the Christian worldview, both definitions are the same.
Interesting reminder. The new term “PC”, or politically correct, further defines sophisticated as it’s used today.
I am off to breakfast. BBL
Although we all want a leader of our country
Elected and not chosen through lordolatry
We have settled
On one without mettle
Whos logic relies on nothing but sophistry
And we short changed ourselves... A++++
We appreciate it Ti! You are the best!!
Almost to the formerly frozen tundra! Not quite to Scranton.
Dreary overcast day here. Birds are chirping, though. Enjoy your visit.
Catasophistry: the use of a fallacious argument to spread doom and gloom. (See: Globull Warming, Er... Climate Change)
I like that word!
If you have to wash the grandkids several times before they get clean, are you repeating the art of soapastry as you try, try again?
I’ve been out of town for the last 10 days and am still “sorting out”. So, I have been avoiding news about the Pope until I can sit down and devote my whole attention to the encyclicle and find out what he REALLY said — not what some “Chicken Little” reporter predicts he’s going to say!
But, it is with great trepidation that I approach this task today — just as soon as I write some checks. The signs don’t look good.
I’ve already changed religions once in my life. Please ddon’t tell me that I might have to change again.
We are hearing enless sophistry from the Dems on gun ownership in the aftermath of the Charleston tragedy — starting with Obumma.
I suppose Paris is relived to know that gun violence does not occur outside of the USA. Also the Christians in the ME and Africa must feel so safe! (sarc/off)
I once had a cat (forced upon me by the owner of a berry farm in WA) that we nam “Kitalyst” because every time he walked into a room, an explosion happened with the other pets!
I am NOT changing religions. I am ignoring an ignorant pope. I follow Jesus, not the pope.
Good plan! That’s what I intend to do. Depending upon the word from my local pulpit, I can see myself changing congregations. I’ll have to wait and see.
