But then if Roof said he was just fantasizing the roomie could be sued for malicious gossip.
The cops can't do anything with a generalized anger, other than try to keep an eye on him as attention permits. You do have a great point though, parents are probably about as useful, the fellow is 21, and likely out of reach of parents' persuasion.
-- how many 21 year olds out there talk sh!t and nothing comes of it. --
All of them/us that manage to reach that age.
Can’t he be charged with complicity?
That bowl cut is suspicious.
declined to speak with reporters and told them get off his property.
Interesting...
Given his history of drug abuse.....could have been on a cocktail of drugs.
Another awesome display of the mental power and moral clarity of Millenials.
“Hello, District Attorney? US Attorney? Just wanted to let y’all know that I am an accessory before the fact to nine first degree murders! When can I turn myself in?”
I might mention it to someone. But that’s juxt me.
All of those people would be alive today if he would have told someone. Don’t see how he can live with himself.
On the prepper threads there is a thing called “normative bias” or something. A thing in our brains that, when thinking about how bad a situation could get (say no electricity for 6 months) copes by saying “Well that could never happen here.”
I’m guessing it is the same thing here. “Well sure he talks a big story, but no way he would ever DO something that crazy.” I know they teach the kids in school when it comes to a classmate talking suicide to let someone know.
But then there are numerous threads right here on FR that would garner attention.
“Turn Mecca into glass”
“Hang the child molester over a fire”
“Give me 5 minutes with him in a dark alley”
Etc.
Probably not the same thing, but...
I suppose means and ability factor in too.
My daughter says how she hates everyone at her school. Doesn’t mean she’s going to shoot the place up. (In fact, she is going to the junior college for her senior year as a solution to the problem.)
A friend or aquaintance of the perp in an earlier article described him as a ‘pill-popper’, and it appears he was on some ssri type prescrip medication(s).
It could be hiding a tiny revolver!
I think I heard he was also caught with Suboxone.
Bottom line, right there. It looks prophetic in retrospect in the odd case something happens, but "I'll kill....(whoever)" are probably muttered or said outright hundreds of thousands of times a day.
It wasn't until I got my CCW that I realized that 'shoot', 'kill', and other expressions of ill will toward any person had to be eliminated from my vocabulary if I was going to survive a post-conflict legal situation, should that arise--especially with any individual who might have provoked such comments.
But I hear such comments often enough that they are seldom given any credence unless specifically directed toward me.
“...the fellow is 21, and likely out of reach of parents’ persuasion”
I read somewhere else that the gun was given to him (by dad) in December...around 6 months ago, which matches the headline of this thread. Dad might not have had persuasive control, but he may have been an enabler. I don’t know how long this guy was a drug abuser...but if he has had drug related run-ins with the law prior to Dad’s giving him that gun, Dad made a big mistake.
I think this nutball and Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook) had the same hair stylist. (Let the conspiracy theories begin - I think the CIA has a barbershop in the basement.)
Neat word.
It is definitely a word that people need to know about, lest they do such a thing out of ignorance.
[He said he wanted to start a civil war. He said he was going to do something like that and then kill himself.]
Thanks for letting the world know AFTER the fact, moron.
