New generations of increasingly timid fish may eat less and be less likely to bite.

Must be using Moochie's kiddy meals for bait?

The key issue in the debate of Evolution is speciation. When the largemouth bass “adapt” and become catfish or something like that, give me a call.

Inadvertant selective breeding. Like culling agressive dogs with sterilization. Evolution? Not even close.

No, you bunch of dumb-oxen! It is because there are a LOT more anglers now than in the past and more fish are caught making it appear that fish are biting less! Jeez! The idiocy boggles the mind!

Just like what happens when the gumming interferes with healthcare, you can’t go back to the way it was.

Basic evolutionary principle: traits that are selected against do not persist, while those that are selected for tend to spread throughout the population.

Size limits on fish that may be caught and kept has also had an effect on fish size. Fish that grow to be smaller than the size limit reproduce more because the larger fish are all caught.

I’ll be spending a few days at the end of the month on Mountain Fork River in Oklahoma. It’s supposed to be a great place to catch small mouth bass.

I need some help. I’m not a fisherman. What equipment do I need to buy and what lures should I use. And can I fish from the bank? In short, what the hell do I do? ha

This is poppycock. Bass attack what looks like food and evolution has nothing to do with it; it is the nature of the bass. I fly fish for bass and it has to do with how good I present the eats to the fish. I do fine.

What idiocy.

Its called fishing pressure. A lake with a lot of pressure MAY be tougher to catch fish in. Not always.

But as fish change their behavior so too do anglers change their tactics and tackle.
