Putting out an invitation on very public social media to a pool party at a private residence was the first major mistake. It's not clear from the reports I've read whether the person sending the invitation actually lived there. I am curious, but I haven't found the details.

My first thought too.
A person doesn’t have to live at a location to invite the world TO that location. I’m not even going to say here what a social media creep could do to turn the life of an innocent party upside down over a perceived slight etc. or even for no reason or randomly.
