Yeah I hate that “Brown Pride” crap too. It was hilarious when Werdum called him a fake Mexican.
There doesn’t appear to be a post-fight show thanks to the Women’s World Cup.
Definitely—the rematch will be must-see tv. Cain’s prep for the fight sounds defective.
Cain got beaten like a pinata
Know what you mean about any kind of race-pride stuff. In year 7 of our Lord Obama, I’m about rubbed raw there.
I was taking to a friend at Twin Peaks about how ‘brown pride’ was an interesting tatoo for a white guy. Then again, maybe Cain was one of the original “trans-racials”?? Who knew??!!
Anyway, sorry to inject the current socio-political madness into a pure fight thread. These days there’s almost no escaping it.
Long live UFC!
Yum!
Anyone watching the absurd Kimbo Slice/Ken Shamrock circus fight on Bellator tomorrow night? (Spike tv). Slice is 41, Shamrock is 51. Slice weighed in at 232, Shamrock was under the HW limit at 204, crazy.
Odds
Slice -275
Shamrock +215
I have Slice, 10 years younger, 30 pounds heavier, and he’s actually had some real training for the first time. Online polls overwhelming go with Shamrock.
A FW title fight is the co-main event.
Yeah, I’m going to watch it, but I have no picks, both these guys are highly suspect IMO.
The last fight I saw Shamrock in witch was a couple years ago or so, I swear i saw him take a dive.
His opponent threw a punch in the general direction of his face, and missed Shamrock by an obvious 8-10 inches, and shamrock acted as if he got hit by it and fell to the ground on his back.
Now maybe he was trying to lure the guy in for a submission, but still that looked so suspect. i can’t recall who his opponent was or who won, but I have been dubious of Shamrock since I saw that.
And Kimbo is just...Glassjaw Joe.
But I’ma watch it.
Yeah I’m gonna watch.
I don’t know what fight that was but I’ve seen fighters do that, so desperate to get the fight to the ground even on their backs, that they just flop down.
I have Kimbo winning. Shamrock’s bad knees ruined his grappling, so he will brawl with the younger (relatively speaking), bigger, and harder hitting Kimbo.
Yeah, I suspect that is what it was, but it was just sooo phony and telegraphed.
It was a fight that occurred a few years ago on whatever MMA deal Showtime had going, I think Strikeforce.
Let’s see, you might be thinking of his adopted brother FRANK Shamrock. Ken never fought in Strikeforce.
Frank’s last fight was in Strikeforce in ‘09 against Nick Diaz.

That must be it, he does it during the final minute of round 1.
Nah it wasn’t frank. I have always thought Frank was a pretty stand up guy, and I don’t think I’ve seen him do anything that appeared suspect.
But it wasn’t Strikeforce, I apologize. I think my Alzheimer’s is setting in.
It was EliteXC, an ill fated MMA outit of a few years ago that was pretty much slain by Kimbo being defeated by Seth Petruzelli.
I think this may have been the fight-

There was also apparently some suspicions over why ken was replaced with Petruzelli in XC’s last show in which Kimbo was knocked out.

That is a pretty interesting read.
This ought to be an interesting show tonight :D
I really hope that there is no tomfoolery that might reflect badly on the sport.
I got Shamrock here.
Shamrocks life story has been made into a movie The Greatest Fight and coincidentally was just released a few weeks ago. Ken is a born again Christian and this fight is great publicity for his testimony to get out there to the MMA world. The guy who made the movie is Darren Wilson who has made a series of movies documenting miracles all over the world. I've seen them all and love them and look forward to seeing this new one by him. I've met and spoke with Darren several times and he is a very cool guy. I actually helped convince him to make this movie.
Back when Kimbo was fighting for that Elite XC outfit, it was rumored that his opponents were told not to take him down, because he had zero ground skills.
Petruzelli showed he can be beaten on his feet too, however, I think that I would go with Ken in this match as well considering his ground skills.
I think if Ken can avoid being knocked out while he establishes a credible standing game, he can then sneak a takedown, and that should be it for Kimbo, unless he has been practicing grappling that I don’t know about.
