I don’t need it put together, I need the bars shortened. Crazy Frank could probably do it, but he has no vice, nor is there a good solid, stable surface to brace the bars on while they are being shortened. (His apartment is just like mine.)
A vice is ideal as it could grip the bars right next to the score I need and then the extra length could be snapped right off, with a little extra muscle involved.
Putting it together is the least of my worries, at the moment. Just a simple screw to tighten the grips around the bar.
Hmph. If only you had Tom ...
The vice you need is out in the parking lot.
Make an arrangement to roll a vehicle's tire over the thing you want held down, and then lift up the thing you want to bend (and break).
You might need to "sandwich" the bar with a couple of thin pieces of wood, or anything that can help you define the break area. A brick or patio paver would work, but it might be difficult to get the vehicle perched on something too high.
Precision is offered by the score marks, but you have to get support close to the mark.
