The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
Gah. She says in lower case letters. Thanks. I need to get it done and get it registered in the lower end of vehicles, as it won’t pass another smog test. I just need to make sure I get that done before too much longer. I can’t afford too many repairs on this thing, without help from a “free” mechanic.
If it ain’t one darn thing, it’s two darn things, said my dear mother, 50 years ago!
I trust the muffler guy to do the work he is paid for but I somehow think it wouldn’t be in his best interest to have someone else do the work he could charge for in the shop.
While I believe most people are intrinsically honest around here, most of them have little quirks.
I’m trying to get some phone numbers, but unless I go to church, that isn’t going to happen today. And I made the mistake of running out for gas and groceries before I took the morphine. Ungh.
And the entire trip was an experience in creative shopping. I didn’t have enough on my card to use it at the pump, so I went inside, and told them “$30” figuring that was a fairly safe amount. It was $23, so I went back inside and asked for my money back. Haha. It only took $23, so there was no money back, I was told. What????
Off to Walmart where I parked on a hill so I could clutch-start it. At the check out, I had my measly little amount, and used the SNAP card first, then the AMEX card, and then all the cash I had.
FEAR NOT!!! The book mailing funds are in a separate account! And I need to wrap that, soon, so I can get it mailed first thing tomorrow.
Then I took a break from the humidity and had a breathing treatment and had to turn the fan up one notch. Hopefully, that will help with the power surges I’ve been having...
Happy Sunday to me.
In looking though the books on the Nook my brother gave me, there are about 20 of them that I have on my old Nook. Go figger. He didn’t take ANYTHING off, so his emails are still on there. *sigh* And I don’t know how to erase them on the Nook without erasing them on his email account. :o|
Snow leopard is also an OS program for a Mac Computer. :)
Don’t tell Kathleen that. It was OS 10.6
I’ll be headed to church shortly.
If I had a smartphone I'd actually let the next one catch my eye and then ask her how much for a liver.
That is, when I'm not doing something as important as helping my daughter. That doesn't wait.
Hello.
I thought now sounding drunk was wrong around here.
What's up with her back? I never seem to know what's going on around here.
The package is ready to go and I will drop it in the bin tomorrow morning. There was nothing on the USPS site about media mail, so it is going priority.
I was going to stand in line so I could also get some stamps, but I will go to Smith’s and get stamps there, today, so I can mail out my checks and the cards that are waiting.
There are two bills that have been orphaned by my drugs, but that can’t be helped...I gotta have her herbal stuffies.
now = not
Sheesh!
It’s not my back. I had my girls reduced. Big time. I’m sure in four more weeks when it’s all over I will feel much better but for now I’m very uncomfortable.
Still, I’m glad I finally did it. I’ve wanted to have this done since I was about 22.
I’ve actually heard that can have a positive impact on your back. I know of one woman who didn’t have cancer who had the reduction because of back pain. I’m sort-of waiting for my older daughter to make a declaration of such intent since her neck is often hurting her due to stress.
(She’d also like to reduce the pain of random New Yorkers asking her to marry them for all the wrong reasons.)
No. We're pretty much used to it.
Congratulations on the weight loss by The Twins! If I could afford that, I certainly would! You will feel much better in the months to come, Gefn!
*HUG*
Insurance doesn’t cover it. It was very expensive. I took it out of my 401. It did pay for the hospital,,the overnight, the anesthesia, the pic line...etc.
It was a four hour operation, and it’s going to be another month of healing. I should have had this done in my late twenties or thirties. Skin is more elastic and heals quicker than skin at my age. It’s just when you have it done you can’t breast feed a baby. So it’s something ArGee, your daughter needs to think about. I put it off for that reason. I assumed I was going to have children.
Other than that, the pros outweigh the cons. I’d recommend it to any lady over a DD as a life saving event. Especially once you get into the DDD and above.
Perhaps my insurance will cover it, once I get into Ortho and they see the damage in my lower spine.
I wasn’t able to breast feed longer than a few days, but over the years, packing all that extra weight around is NOT a fun thing to do. Besides the fact that they are always in the way, food is always spilling on them.
DDD’s have not always been easy to find, unless one shops at a HUGH department store like Macy’s or Dillard’s. And they are very spendy. Period. So I began using sport bras for the wider straps. I still have grooves in my shoulders.
At any rate, here’s hoping you have a speedy recovery and that the pain recedes like a bad dream when you wake up!
I got my bras from Lane Bryant and other specialty stores.
I can’t wait to go into Victoria Secret in two months and buy something off the rack. No more catalogs!
And if I decide to date again, he can look into my eyes instead of my ummm er....
Lets go back to Viking Kitties Or the weather. It’s not hot here. It’s humid.
98, 21% WNW @ 3 mph.
Another breathing treatment is going to be needed soon. Maybe tomorrow will be drier, I hope.
Maybe, if I feel up to it, I will get some laundry done tomorrow, too. I really need some clean sheets...The ones on the bed were purchased when I was in TX and that was more than 12 years ago. I think it’s time to trash them.
Little by little, they have a tendency to wear out. I don’t buy anything but flannel because of the night sweats. They are absorbant and they dry fast.
Don’t ever share this conversation with Mrs. ArGee.
Whenever she shops for a bra she can’t find one small enough and the staff keeps offering her padded bras. Neither she nor I want her pretending to have something God didn’t give her and it really gripes her cookies that this stupid country assumes bigger is better.
But the comments still make her wonder if there isn’t something wrong with her. Not that I mind convincing here there isn’t, but she shouldn’t have to put up with that.
Something for your Sunday Vision Escapades!

For what it’s worth, shopping for clothes is painful for me. My shoulders are broader than my hips, and I have an “Indian Butt” like my mother...flat. My hips didn’t spread during pregnancy, so childbirth was difficult.
As for the Snack Bar, it was always overkill. I have always bought men’s shirts because they fit better, narrowing at the hips, and men’s jeans fit better because there is no room for large glutei maximi.
I blame swimming for the broad shoulders and narrow hips, but I also blame my mother for my large mammaries and pancake butt.
You wife has no idea how fortunate she is, and at this point in my life, I would STILL share the wealth with someone less endowed!
