The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
At least you are not being treated this way by the black and white neighbors who speak "Moo".
I once got some mail that was addressed to "Our Valuable Customer" or to the current resident.
That told me that my value to them as a customer was to be near enough to them to be willing to purchase their wares, although I can't recall ever having done so.
Perhaps that Resident fellow drives past my house to get there, and thinks that life would be better for him if he lived where I do.
I'm betting he doesn't know about the broken dishwasher.
Thanks for the thought ,Bob. :)
However the Carrier is now turned into the wind.
It is way past time the aforementioned to##er was kicked into line.
3700 !
You da man. Lol. :)
The wash is down to one basket. I did a load at 9:00, a load at 11:00, and a load at 3:30. The load at 1:00 may have been a dream.
Today's tiny Basement Cat is friends with a tolerant orange guy.
Good morning. Your posts are always a mental exercise, reminding me why we have a “standard vocabulary” to ease our way through this complicated life. But sometimes one values poetry, and the morning after all-night laundry is one of them.
This reminds me that, after liquid precipitation here several days ago, followed by solar radiation, the Epic Fail Lawn Service needs to get off his tuchus and mow before the HOA sends another nastygram or the verdant growth strangles us in our beds. Also, the spousal unit needs to fix the duplication device, which is demanding (as far as I can tell: it only uses pictures) ink. I had to copy the music at church this week.
The lectionary for today is “Bread of Life” themed.
I love tiny basement kitty,
Don’t know if I told you. Got a bad infection from surgery. Went on antibiotics and pain pills.,
Pain pills made me feel drunk so I stayed off line lest i say someting wrong.
Still feeling very loopy. Going back to lurk mode.,just wanted to say hello.
Hello. :)
Afternoon, Moose!
Good Afternoon , TC. :)
Lovely sunny day today.
We’re expecting the same, and 96 degrees.
Hello Moose!
Happy August.
Hurray!
Did you see the cats projected on the Empire State Building last nite?
No, I was doing laundry. Four people came home from camp yesterday. I’m sure it was cute!
Thanks, that’s neat. I was reading book about snow leopards to Kathleen last night. It’s interesting that an animal adapted to the Tibetan plateau and the high cliffs of the Himalayas can thrive in San Antonio, Texas.
(Did I forget anyone?)
I have to go get gas in the truck, and then pick up some groceries, but the truck is hard to start the second time. It looks, ArGee, that you were half-right about the starting problem.
Your questions in trying to help me isolate the problem confused me, because it was lagging the first times it started, acting like the battery. The extensive grinding on the the second and third times, after it had been driven, acting like the solenoid.
So it looks like I need to get a solenoid. It’s $30 at the APW.com but I don’t know who could put it in, now that my favorite mechanic is no longer available. :o|
If it starts and keeps grinding, it means the solenoid is working, it’s engaging. The problem is the solenoid return spring is no longer strong enough to disengage.
Your real problem is labor cost being about the same to replace the spring as it is for the whole assembly.
Good luck.
Good morning. Maybe your muffler guy could recommend someone.
