The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
*sigh* I’m so popular... :o|
I will have to go to church tomorrow. I have some things I’m dealing with that I need to take care of. This year, it starts at 1100, but next year, it will start at 1300, and I will have to go to whichever ward is at 0900.
And now, I will look for a calendar template.
That’s confusing! Have you considered going to a Catholic Church? Much easier scheduling!
Tom is home! He’ll be gone again tomorrow, but he’s home for now. I would hug him, but he’s filthy, so I’m doing his laundry instead. He gave Kathleen a jelly bean.
The closest Catholic church is much farther away, and there are a lot of masses to choose from.
The reason we change meeting times is that three to four wards attend the same meeting house, and in order for everyone to have a chance at an early start, the times need to be staggered, as each ward has three distinct meetings in a three-hour block. It was confusing when it was first implemented, but it works out very well.
We keep building meeting houses, but the church just keeps growing...
I think I’m going to go to bed, soon.
OpenOffice.org has a calendar template, and the pages are large enough for me to hang and read. This next week is already full, even though I “thought” it was unbusy. Haha. The joke is on me.
And August starts with me having to go to Ortho, so they can decide when and if I need surgery on my neck. I suspect I do. But I’m not happy about it.
So, I take it Tom missed Kathleen?
Yes, Tom missed Kathleen, and vice-versa. I missed Tom, too, and I’ll get to miss him again the next week, and then when they get back from Seabase, he has a backpacking outing planned with his friends who will go back to college in the fall. But that’s okay. I’m sure I’ve forgotten many things about how much space he takes up, his mood swings, and so on ;-).
I hope nothing prevents your getting to church tomorrow. I hate it when I can’t go, which is fortunately rare. Sometimes I go twice in a weekend, because I don’t like to miss the Spanish Mass.
As with everything in my life, what I do actually hinges on how easily I can get out of bed.
I really do like going to church because there are so many spiritual talks, and uplifting lessons. It’s depressing when I can’t go.
There is more I want to say, but my mind is heading off into the Dizzy Zone, and that means I need to go in and get parallel to the deck.
Nausea is back. Balance is off. Eyelids are trying to slam shut.
See you tomorrow day.
I hope you have a good night and feel much better tomorrow. You know I love you very, very much!
The feeling is mutual! <3 <3 <3
See you tomorrow!
We fought the idea that National Socialism was good by shooting everyone who supported the idea.
Unfortunately, that technique wont work with the idea of progressivism(tm) in the U.S.
True. However, as progressivism has little connection with demonstrable fact, it is free to "compete" in the realm of ideas entirely unbounded by those pedestrian constraints that remain binding upon the sensible ideas that come against it. Ideas such as Limited Government find themselves facing an adversary that is allowed to — in essence — cheat, by any and every conceivable means.
The results are predictable.
FWIW...
As regards the original article, I suppose there ought to be some sort of note in the margin about Quetzalcoatl having duly registered his displeasure over our immigration policy.
Today's floofy kitten is from a Maine Coon breeder in Canada.
I’m here. I’m feeling a little better, but I’m going to keep a very low profile today. I wanted to go to church, but it’s not a good idea...
The weather prognosticator says it’s going to be “semi-hot” today at 103. Hahahah.
My forecast is 95. I’m glad you’re feeling a little better. I’m sneezy!
The Seabase trip departed at 6:00 a.m. (and didn’t come back for anything they’d left, which is unusual). I’ve got the last load of campers’ wash in the dryer.
I’ll be leaving for church with the byos in a few minutes. Bill will stay with Kathleen.
Even though I feel better, I think I may be headed for a nap soon.
Enjoy the services!!
I found another load of wash ... a fleece sleeping bag Tom had been using (P-U!!!) and some of Vlad’s socks.
Whoa! THERE’s a lethal combination! Call the HAZ-MAT team!!!
Hah! She fears nothing! She washes screwdrivers!
And probably fluffs and folds them as well!
floofy is a good description
