The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
A symbol of the new US minutemen resistance force...!
Right now, it is messing with my stomach, and it increased my BP by over 30 points within three hours. Not a good sign for the doctor...
But since high BP is a symptom and not a disease, I will continue to try and find the cause.
Sigh.
Three hours later, it’s gone up another 25+ points. This is not looking good. Actually, it looks great, if I can make it through the day.
I’ve been playing “hidden object” games and trying to relax, but the BP is telling me this is another failure of a medicine.
I will check it again in three hours. If it goes up again, I will email the doctor. And I will not be taking the second pill tomorrow.
With luck, she will have run out of BP meds that she can safely give me.
Typically high blood pressure is caused by giving a darn and being in a country ruled by people who don’t give a rat’s behind about anything but personal power.
Kicking your give-a-darn offline is the best bet.
Waiting for friends on the stoop of my building on West 73rd I watched a man struggle for more than five minutes to get into a reasonably sized space. He had no clue, bumping both cars several times. I was laughing out loud. Frustrated and humiliated he jumped out of the car and shouted out to me, “Sure, Mr. Hotshot, I’d like to see you try!”
I accepted his offer, pulled his car up and in one smooth move eased it back into the space, got out, smiled at him without a word and went back to my stoop.
The fellow did turn a bright red as he walked away muttering.
At one time while on the block between Central Park and the Claremont stables I watched a confrontation between a would be parker and older tie dyed hippie. The hippie was collecting the horse manure blocking the parking spot. Hippie was very slow in gathering his prize and kept telling the driver he should keep a car in the city. Oh my, such cursing on both sides.
I’m sure my weight contributed somewhat to some high blood pressure, but I have lost over 40 pounds so that has helped lower it. However, my recent birthday present is still giving me fits, but I think if I can get the Carditone next payday, the BP will go back down to liveable levels.
:o]
Hey, what are bumpers for?
One time when I was moving from one side to the other I saw a guy rushing to get out of his space and into one he’d seen. He clipped the car in front of him on the way out of his current spot damaging both vehicles. I made sure he was well off the road before I moved.
W73rd, eh? We had a 4th floor walkup on W73rd just west of Broadway a while back.
Just east of B’way and needle park, aka Verdi, 1969-1973. Within the first 18 months witnessed the aftermath of two drug related murders
I came on the scene much, much later - circa 2007.
and the rest on Gilligans Island...

Try listening to the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. That’s what I’ve got on, since Tom didn’t pick up my book-on-CD from the library like he was supposed to.
Why, they're for parking-by-braille. I thought everyone in NYC knew that.. ;-)
It’s gone up another 10 points. No more for me. This one is worse than the last one.
I will email the doc and stop the med. I doubt she will call me before Monday.
For heaven’s sake. They should have to give you a refund for each of these meds that doesn’t help.
What, doctors guarantee their work?
How about this guarantee. Look, if you like your BP meds, you can keep your BP meds. Period!
Peoples who have not experienced the joys of on street parking in NYC will not understand why it takes 2 hours...
Just wait ‘till it snows... ;-)
Some people don’t know what a folding chair in a
parking space means...
I’m from Chicago...
OMG! It’s Thursday????
We’ve got to move the car to the other side of the street!
A flaming hawk with a snake in it’s talons,
sounds like the mascot for a gay bar.
We all know THAT’s not going to happen.
I just emailed the office and should be hearing something within a couple of hours.
In the meantime, I’m going to wait for the early news to come on and then I’m going to lie down and read.
It’s 98 degrees with 19% humidity and the A/C has been cycling all day. I hate to see the next bill, even with the thermostat set at 85. The most recent bill came today and that was $50. It’s been creeping up a few dollars for the last three months. Ungh. The “energy assistance” they gave me for this year is $11 less a month than last year. I guess us old folks aren’t supposed to survive anything any more. *sheesh* The only break I get is in the winter, when I use the space heaters.
