The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
I was so happy that I got everything on my list. Until I went to make coffee. Now I have to go to Walmart.
Oh, dear!
Everyone loves Animal Kingdom Weirdness.
I’m back. Hardly anyone was there. MY kind of store! LOL!
Enjoy your coffee. Still waiting for Kathleen to do the deed ...
I’m encouraging DP to take the byos to the parade, while I would deal with the digestive situation here in the air conditioning.
Because we entertain each other.
What'cha got? A little song and dance maybe?
I had my coffee, thanks, and it was good. I think it’s the first time I’ve had a cup in four days. No wonder it was on my list! LOL!
Years ago, I knew a woman from South Africa, and she trained her children to pee on a dandelion blossom, or whatever else she could find that would float. It worked the girls as well as the boys.
My mother trained my son, but she never told me how, so I can’t pass it on. It was her Ace In the Hole to keep me dependent on her to some degree. By the time I got my daughter, she was eight years old, so she had been trained long before I got her.
Yah! That's the ticket! A little song and dance! Something to celebrate the Fourth of July!!
Not too long. Although a story that gets a lot of attention or strikes my fancy can see a longer version written.
31 short stories in 31 days of July.
Thanks, it does seem like a part of a longer story doesn’t it... maybe I could...
Walmart had red, white and blue bouquets today, but I just couldn’t get one. I still need to get the truck registered next week and get the medication, so I need to hang on to what I have.
Let's call it, "I Got Better"
"Hey, Rod." "How's it going, Slick?" "Not bad. Haven't seen you for a while. Is everything all right? "Oh, man! You didn't hear?" "Well, I've been keeping my eyes out, but no. What happened?"
The snail paused in its glide to look more carefully at the spindly insect. "That darned newt grabbed me again and used me for a 'Magic Wand'. Darn, that hurts!"
Rod awkwardly reached back and rubbed his nether end. "Ouch," said the snail. "I wish he'd go back where he came from,"
the walking stick shuddered for a moment. "Where's that?" The snail glanced around slowly. "They say he used to be a human," the exasperated insect muttered.
"I wish he'd go back to it." Looking around, he continued,
"I heard that some witch changed him somehow, and he's been
making my life miserable for way too long." Slick bobbled his eyes in agreement. "Well, we can always hope he'll get better." Rod stared motionlessly at his friend, and then shuddered again,
before walking on in a very stiff manner, "Oh, yeah, like that's going to happen!"
Yep. See?
Those nano nanas aren't working for me.
Gray kitties,.dark little minds
lol.
A fellow writer on Kboard decided to do a 31 stories in 31 days challenge for July. I can throw together a 500-1000 word story pretty easily without getting in the way of my other writing
Some of them may become longer stories someday.
I just did another one. I’ll post it later. It’s called “Boardwalk Noir”.
I don’t think a bonsai banana would work for me, either, though I DID forget to get a banana while I was at Walmart earlier. I’m in desperate need of an ulcer cocktail.
They are too little to have anything in their mind but sunshine and happiness.
Or is that how they will take over the world?
I welcome our feline overlords.....
Have you ever done NaMoWriMo?,in November?
Best I ever got was about 17,000 words.
