The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

I figured if I endured the sleeplessness long enough, I would hit a night where I actually slept. Sure enough, last night was the night. In fact I slept so long without moving that it was very difficult to get out of bed. Ungh.
96 degrees, 12% and winds from the S @ 4 mph.
Today I will be a slug. Maybe I will assemble the drawer frame and start to organize the papers so I can actually have a clean desk. (Which is a sign of a sick mind.)
Or maybe I won’t.
Sounds like a plan, or a non-plan. We’re hoping to get Kathleen to go in the toilet before we leave for the parade, but she’s determined not to. Reminds me of several of her brothers ...

I may be hot and tired and grumpy but it’s because I seldom sleep well. Last night was such an exception that I was surprised to open my eyes and see it was light outside. *sigh* I wasted 45 minutes of the day.
The wind is up and it’s overcast and I’m waiting for the morphine to kick in. I’m a little stiff, still. Maybe I need some coffee.
Hopefully, Bill can help Anoreth find a place for her and Dog to live before he leaves. I hope he took pictures of the places he’s been. Or does he do stuff like that?
