The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

I added about 3,000 to another story yesterday, the next chapter or two will be battle scenes. I can say I am about half-way done with that first draft.
I still need to make chapters out of “The Fourth” before I get it ready for publishing. Will be looking for beta readers for that one soon I hope

Jake is very hard to see when he’s in the garden ... brown cat on brown ground, shaded by tall weeds. I can hear Tom the Mocker giving his “It’s a cat!” sound, and Bill the cardinal is in a tree saying, “Chip!”
I thought Kathleen might like this little 4th of July BBQ.

Kathleen and the byos thought that was cute. The hamster stuffing his cheek pouches was the best.
The people who do that have some lovely videos. Tiny hamsters date for valentines day comes to mind.
I have one from them of a tiny hamster and the 4th of July Coney Island hot dog contest for tomorrow...unless I should post it now. Maybe our FRiends will be away on a 3 day vacation?
As I observed earlier this morning when my husband mentioned the phenomenon of “sunburn body art,” some people have too much time on their hands.
I’ve never heard of that, but I’m one of those people that’s so white I can’t go out in the sun without a hat or long sleeves in the summer. And sunscreen.
I burn too easy. So I don’t sunbathe.
My sister and a few other people rented a house for the weekend in the Hamptons. She will be a glorious bronze by Monday.
Unless they've found a way to make money doing it, and then it's all good.
