The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
That’s because Col. Klink was clueless...
Col. Klink may well have been Keyser Soze’s grandfather.
But nobody knows for sure.
I read 200 posts of the backlog and then caught up on the sleep deficit. Now I'm contemplating the needed sequence of events to unload my trailer since some goes down 'here' but most goes 'up there' (meaning pulling the trailer up the hill behind the milkhouse to unload that portion.)
We had rain three of the four days. Some of the contents of the trailer is very wet...
WHOA!!! Looks like some liquid sunshine befell the cast and crew. Nothing like working for your blessings!
Did you have a good time, anyway?
The neighbor farmers were busy doing the 'I have tractor, I can help' thing getting people axle-deep in the mud unstuck from their locations. Our location was at the top of a small rise so we were not in the worst area.
Speaking of which, supposedly your campsite location is determined by the order in which you register your group. We registered our group for this year at last year's event (we were number 4 to register) and as such we would normally be in the field behind the main stage. (In the photo above, follow the path to the right of the Valley Forge trailer straight out into the camping area, that is where we should have been.) Due to what we were told was a human error we were located further out - doesn't show in that pic - and up the hill. Although the walk was farther that human error actually kept us from getting axle deep in mud since it was higher than our 'preferred' location... Saturday after it rained all day and until 3 AM Sunday morning, that area behind the stage was flush with mired vehicles.
I'm thinking the human error might have been Providential... ;-) (Yes we are registered for next year. ;-)
We did suffer a casualty however. After ten years of service, the Condo Tent took a hit from a tree branch dislodged by the wind and suffered loss of hit points. Now I need to see if Eureka still makes that rain fly.. ;-)
Actually yes.
I'm not sure that all the members of our camp would say the same thing though ;-) Most of them pulled out early. By Saturday night there were only four of us left at our site...
..which was a good thing since I needed their assistence Sunday morning to load the trailer.
I’ve been to events like that. But if the Creator decided it should rain, what can you do but get wet?
You either get wet attending the various events or you stay back at camp either in the tent or under our canopy and merely get damp..
;-)
BTW, you are welcome to join us next year, although I fear the drive is a bit long for you...
Your inkwell could do with a bit of refilling, Mr. Covenantor.
Five points from Gryffindor.
And with that, kiddies, I’m off to bed. Another beautiful day in the neighborhood, according to Mr Rogers, but he never lived in my neighborhood, so he doesn’t really know.
Tomorrow may bring something better for me to focus on. We can only hope.
Sleep well and have pleasant dream, dear ‘Face.
Feed me!
Yes, a long drive and I don’t get much time off.
Would you like some leftover chicken legs?
We didn’t have any leftover night here, we had the same thing but cooked on the grill
:p
Ours will grilled a few days ago.
they would never last that long here. :)
One of our guys posted the following video on Facepagething.. Not sure which day but not Friday - that was the only day it DIDN'T rain.
The evening worship time right before the main speaker so not a name band, just a worship team - something we can relate to.. ;-)
