I am ready for another Triple Crown winner.

Yes, it would be great. I worked at Belmont as a teen during the mid seventies when there were THREE Triple Crown winners! Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), and Affirmed (1978). Unfortunately, I was there from '74 to '76, so I missed all 3 of them while there. I did, however, get to meet/see up close a bunch of superstar horses, jockeys and trainers, and other big names in racing. I even got to meet the groom of Secretariat, a black guy from the south nicknamed "Shorty", aka Eddie Sweat.

there actually should have been 4 triple crown winners in the 70’s....Spectacular Bid in 1979. For some bizarre reason, the trainer, Bud Delp, kept that moron Ronnie Franklin as his jockey.....kid had no reason to be on any horse , let alone that great colt. Ugh.

Wow, what a great life. That must have been something. I’m a fairly recent lover of the big races but I’d like to learn more. I have a very underweight 12 year old who used to take riding lessons and I’m trying to talk him into being a jockey... He’s not going for it yet. Lol.
