I’d like to amend that title to 19 Disgusting Things About The Duggars….and Counting.
Here’s why:
1) Their son Josh was a serial child abuser, yet they don’t seem to even realise this salient fact. ‘He was so young,’ they wailed, ‘he’d just turned 14’…. ‘he was so young’…etc, vomit-makingly etc. Here’s the only fact that matters: Josh Duggar sexually molested FOUR of his own young sisters, one as young as 5, and a baby-sitter.
2) They didn’t report him to anyone for 16 months after he first confessed. That’s not them being ‘failed parents’ as they would have us believe. That’s being an accessory to covering up a crime. When they finally did tell someone in authority, it was to this man. A state trooper who did nothing about it and is now languishing in prison on child pornography charges

4) The Duggars seem more upset that we now all know about Josh’s disgraceful activities than about the activities themselves. Their doe-eyed exclamations of self-pity were utterly disingenuous.
5) They claim none of the victims knew they were being abused, which is obviously palpable nonsense given that some were awake when it happened. The reality is their parents conned them into thinking the abuse wasn’t as bad as it was. Just as they have, for years, conned them into thinking their weird, twisted, religiously zealous, goody-two-shoes lifestyle is ‘normal’ too.

That pretty much says it all. While you give the Duggers credit for keeping their kids away from our sexually charged society, I would think the kids are growing up sexually naive and could in fact be clueless about what constitutes sexual touching. I happened to catch the TV show that showed the oldest son's wedding with Jim Bob giving him an almost childlike explanation of sex and some sort of preacher's marriage manual on cassette tape. Not exactly in my opinion a good way to start a marriage relationship.
Can we agree that where Duggar and Dunham are concerned, molestation is molestation and one is no more or any less disgusting than the other?

The family only reported it to authorities because someone heard the rumors and called the cops. It’s not like the Duggars had a pang of remorse and decided to report the behavior on their own.
It is interesting to note that supposedly the police report itself triggered a FINS (family in need of services) investigation with Arkansas CPS (the suit by Josh vs. them in ‘07 likely relates to this case activity) and that the big house subsequently built meets Arkansas code for a child molester living in the same home with minor children.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic here or not since you seem to be replying to the quote you posted from another reply. Megan did show a bit of tonight’s interview with the two older daughters before her show ended on Wednesday and one of the girls was very upset and stated she didn’t know why the whole thing had to become publicized making victims of them again. If anyone has watched the show, no one would guess that they didn’t live exactly the lives portrayed on the show - with no pretense whatsoever. I only started watching the show out of curiosity when the father accompanied the one daughter to Nepal to meet the guy she eventually married.
I believe the two girls who will be the subject of the show tonight are the two who have recently become mothers themselves or at least one has already. It was difficult to get a good view of both of them on Wednesday night. And I certainly don’t have the benefit of the info that so many on here seem to have gleaned from somewhere else!
I might as well go ahead and ask how many of us don’t have skeletons in our closets? I can already post the reply to that “AND HOW MANY OF US HAVE TV SHOWS?”

Both molestations make me wonder where they learned that behavior. Most 14/15yr old boys don’t see their 4/5yr old sisters and think ‘wow, my 4yr old sister is lookin’ hawt tonite!, can’t wait to touch me some of that!’.

Top priority: PROTECTING PREPUBESCENT CHILDREN FROM SEX ABUSE
Second priority: PROTECTING TEENS FROM SEX ABUSE
PERIOD. Of course everyone loves their child, even if he turns out to be an abuser. But that is NOT the top priority.
The Duggars, by their actions, showed their priorities:
1. PROTECT THE ABUSING TEEN FROM PUNISHMENT
2. FAME AND MONEY
3. SORT OF MAKE IT HARDER FOR THE ABUSING TEEN TO ABUSE
4. GET THE VICTIMS TO BELIEVE IT WASNT SERIOUS ABUSE AND SHOULD BE FORGIVEN AND OH YEAH MAKE YOUR ABUSER LUNCH

Moving the abuser out while everyone got therapy would have raised questions about JimBob’s ‘control and authority’ in his own family.
Not to mention it wouldn’t have been nearly as photogenic to have a ‘13 kids + 1 living with grandparents for some reason, and pregnant again!’ tv special.

Josh did admit he did it when they were asleep. I’m sure he did that so he would not be caught. Modesty and dress have nothing to do with it. You have to understand rape, the rapist/molester and the victim. Rapist/molester ie the predator attacks the victim ie the prey for one reason, this is because the rapist can over power the victim. Dress and modesty have nothing to do with it. Bag ladies on skid row have been raped and they wear every thing they own. This sort of thing is not about lust, but about power and dominance over another person.

Didn’t Megan Kelly have this information when she conducted the interview? If what the parents told her in the interview proves to be untrue then she owes her audience an apology and an explanation. I am not willing to say that the parents were being deceitful in that interview.

Child molestation is sick. Getting sexual pleasure from small children is a VERY VERY SICK behavior. It is not a teen mishap like stealing earbuds or skateboarding down the church steps.
The Duggars are fooling you. They are now obvious liars and they do these wrong things FOR FAME AND MONEY. Good people don’t do that. You yourself are probably a much truer good person than they are. Don’t fall for evil just because it wears a coat of Your Team.

I think Megyn, as a condition of the interview, is not allowed to bring up the police report. In fact, she must condemn it.
She got her payoff, one of her highest rated shows with part 2 coming tonight with the daughters.
I have as much evidence for this as you do for Josh being reformed/healed.

I’m amazed at how some conservatives don’t uphold traditional values if the evildoer cloaks himself in a “conservative” fabric.
You call this just some “ stupid kid touching his sister’s junk.” You’re not a conservative if you think child moleststion is a stupid prank. It destroys lives. In the past generations, yes, sexual abuse was kept quiet, BECAUSE THE VICTIM WAS ALWAYS PUNISHED. People took the side of the abuser all the time, because abusers tend to first become pillars of society in order to cover for their abuse. See: Hastert, Dennis. Allen, Woody. Cosby, Bill. Etc.
Thank Gd now victims are finding it is safe to tell what happened to them. They are able to heal and live. Many destroyed their own lives in many ways after keeping that ghastly secret for so long.
The conservative response to this issue should be heavier penalties for child and teen sex abuse, dropping all statutes of limitation (which acts as a get out of jail free card for child molesters), and more protection for children. Not laughing it off as nothing like you are doing.
