You can make a man "look" like a woman with surgeries, hormones and makeup. But, all you're doing is changing the outside appearances. They are still a man, down to every last cell in their body. You can't alter science with political correctness (except of course with Climate Change science).
When is this puke getting his dick and balls chopped off? My bet is never and this is just one big money making circus.
I'm SURE that has a "sexual" component to it as well. Funny how everyone thinks "oh how weird". But if it's a penis, how DARE you think "that's weird".
I remember the Lorena Bobbitt case, where she was acquitted. They interviewed the jurors and they said the only big deal was the fact that she cut off John Bobbitt's penis. They said that from a legal standpoint, it was EXACTLY the same as if she had cut off his thumb.
I have no connection to them. Maybe he has NPD. I just didn’t see the evidence. You know more.
Ad hominem.
I am not condescending, just disappointed that most FReepers only mock. He has a disorder and this is the “current treatment,” as faulty as it is, like chemo for cancer patients.
I will respect his decision for now as he’s tried the forget about it method for 60 years.
I agree with you. It needs to be a disorder to HELP those suffering. I’m sure the cause is not strictly genetic; maybe something happens in the womb.
I think you’re the only person who knew what it was!
With all that is going on in the world, I say we just ignore Bruce and all of the other misguided souls who desperately want attention of any sort.
Can Bruce now “marry” “Caitlin”?
I am aware of the rare exceptions, but Bruce isnt one of them, and almost any of the celebritized cases are not either.
Thank you for your fine essay and excellent work.
“Send your hate-tweets to @Scrowder and Ill be sure to do very little about them.”
Bejamin Disraeli (1804-81) would say, “I shall waste no time reading them.” Either he will read them quickly or not at all.
Race: external skin color
Gender: internal hormones
I agree w/ your post and thoughts on this issue.
I actually have had a long discussion w/ various people about ‘transgender’ ... what it means ... why it’s such a topic of conversation these days.
I believe I misunderstood what a transgender person was ... as in I thought that term only applied to a person who had an operation. But as I understand it now ... transgender has more to do w/ how the person feels internally ... for whatever reason ... about who/what they *should* be. I don’t pretend to understand what would cause this and I would not wish anyone to be transgender as it must be a sad sort of life. Independent of what other people think ... but more about what/how that person thinks about themselves. Heartbreaking to not be comfortable with *what* you are.
Re how a less than rich person does this ... I actually do know someone who is going thru this transformation who is of average income. That person has had to save and do ‘it’ in stages. There will be no operation re genitals. This person has hidden their entire life ... and by hidden I mean hidden their body in so many layers of clothing one would not know their sexual identity. This person had name changed to a non-gender specific name when they were 18.
Sad. Nothing to celebrate ... but nothing, IMO, to mock or ridicule. I can only be glad it wasn’t me and pray this person, at some point, can accept themselves and find some joy and peace in their life.
To call something out as BS is not the same as mocking or ridiculing though.
Apotemnophilia, BIID, gender identity disorder, as a layman I'm hard pressed to draw distinctions. Other than one appears to be attempting the road to normalization.
How about the mental disability that causes kleptomania? Maybe we can stand back and let them steal whatever they want.
Then there's the anorexics...let's applaud them for their bravery while they starve to death.
Do you see how unkind your attitude is? I didn't say humor, I said show compassion for people with a disorder like this. Like any other mental disorder.
Yes. My late sister-in-law did have kleptomania among manias. She did get caught stealing small items that she had plenty of money in her purse to pay for. Her doctors went into court to keep her out of jail the third time. She needed to be supervised from then on in shops. We need to have compassion for people with mental disorders. We do.
It upsets me that people here feel they are so religious and thus holier but they don't have compassion for the person with mental differences. I have no problem with people ripping the agenda of the media promoting transexuals. But the person themselves is trying desperately to feel normal, which may or not be possible. My heart goes out to everyone with this condition.
But cement, this current “wisdom” of encouraging the person to try living as the other gender is only one of two choices that these people are given. Either they suffer silently as Bruce did for 60 years, or they try the other gender.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND. Right now this kind of disorder has no other treatment. I can’t blame him for trying this after 65 years of trying to be a man.
Today in the news we find out that radiation knives for brain tumors cause HARM. Permanent harm. I was sort of offered this treatment myself not long ago, though my doc was not in favor. I’m glad. TREATMENTS are only as good as that level of science. Things always change. I hope one day there will be some thing one can do to prevent or help this dysmorphia between brain and genitals.
If we’re talking about Jenner then no he isn’t going to do that or so he says.
No, there’s no reason to celebrate any psychosis. But you’re correct, it’s a political weapon, and they’ll use the mentally ill as they will any minority group. In the interest of combining minorities, they’d call it a mosaic. Health, the welfare of individuals and the nation be damned. Power is what it’s about.
Should be clear, I don’t know if Jenner is using it as a political weapon, doubt it. More likely fame, and the rewards that follow.
