Small market share? Only in the Microsoft-controlled desktop market. Linux is the majority OS in the smartphone market (Android is Linus, if you weren't aware). Linux far and away exceeds Windows as the majority OS for network appliances (intrusion detection systems, load balancers, web servers, etc.). The main reason Microsoft is the leader on the desktop is the contracts it got the major PC manufacturers to sign that preclude them from offering any devices without Windows installed on them. As for my sample being biased, you're operating from a sample of one--that's about as biased as it gets.

Well, that’s the market I’m talking about. And like I said, it’s just not my experience that counts. The day for Linux on the desktop has come and gone. Whatever happened to the cheap Linux PC’s at Walmart? And I don’t see too many manufacturers claiming Linux compatibility like they once did.
