Father Etsio has professed himself a big fan of Frank. It’s disconcerting. Whereas, Father DeCelles, whom you know I have quoted and spoken of here at great length, from what I can tell from his sermons and writings, is basically holding his breath and praying that he isn’t as bad as he fears.
What they swoon over is their perception that popeF loves and accepts sinners. They fail to see a line between love the sinner and hating the sin. They prefer to skip that part.
I skipped prayer group this week. Last time I went one lady took a phone call on her cell during prayer. The caller informed her that the Cal Harris trial was deadlocked. The judge finally declared a mistrial. Harris has twice been found guilty of murdering his wife and twice his conviction was overturned. She obviously wanted him free to raise his children. I was shocked, shocked enough to be glad to skip it the next week. The wife and mother went missing on 9/11/01, and her body was never found. He had told her he would do it.
