Bristol Palin will not be saying "I do" this Memorial Day Weekend. The Dancing With the Stars alum, 24, was planning to marry Marine Dakota Meyer on Saturday, May 23, but has called off her wedding, mom Sarah Palin revealed via Facebook on Monday, May 18.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate, 51, broke the news by sharing a picture of a quote from InstaGod Ministries: "Trust in God's timing. It's better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart."

Below the photo, she included a note about her daughter's engagement, writing: "Bristol and Dakota couldn't be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding. They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held."
Instead, their families will meet to "celebrate life," Alaskas ex-governor shared. There may not be a wedding, but there will be a party.

No, you said it wasn’t plausible that Bristol would violate any of the Ten Commandments.
I don’t think you nor I can say whether or how often any public figure would sin, or what motivation would be in his or her heart at the time.
As Christians, we all have our feet on the Rock, and we all do more than sin “occasionally.” We sin every day.
How could you possibly know that? Have you met Bristol Palin? Do you know ANYTHING about how she lives her life on a day to day basis? You realize of course that she was living with her fiance before the engagement was broken off, right?

He (re_nortex) won’t answer dmz. He can’t deal with the fact that one of the Palin clan would actually *gasp* “live in sin”.
On this one point alone, it does now appear that my zeal for the Palin family may have been somewhat misplaced. To me, this cohabitation appeared out of character for Bristol Palin. Although I have had no personal contact with Miss Palin, aside from the mishap years ago with Levi Johnston, her track record thereafter has been above reproach, as evidenced by her unwavering and very vocal pro-life stance as well as her superb work on behalf of abstinence causes.
That said, it sickens me (as I'm certain it does the both of you, dmz and bigdaddy45) to see any of the Palins subjected to the non-stop drumbeat of leftwing tabloid trash from the lamestream media. Governor Sarah Palin was an outstanding governor with sky-high approval ratings in Alaska. Thanks to her rallying the base, had there not been widespread fraud in the 2008 election, the Kenyan would have never set foot in the White House. And her commitment to both Christianity and Conservatism are unquestioned. Frankly it disgusts me to see posts here on Free Republic piling on Bristol Palin. This is not the venue for that -- anti-American outlets like CNN and PBS are better suited for expressions of Palin Derangement Syndrome.
Ping to ansel12, editor-surveyor and KC Lion to vet my remarks in this post. Since all three of you are more than astute in matters regarding Governor Palin and her family, I want to make absolutely certain that none of what I wrote is out of line or incorrect.
Cohabitation isn’t the least bit out of character for Bristol Palin. She had a child out of wedlock as a teenager. She got in a drunk brawl as a young mother. Living with a man out of wedlock is par for the course for her.
It would be worthwhile to check out Bristol Palin: Life. Family. Alaska. While not 100% perfect in every single way, this sweet young woman is on fire for Christian Conservative causes. Please read her well-written articles on the evils of Planned Parenthood and her recent thoughts on Congressman Louie Gohmert. I'm certain you'll come away with a far different opinion of Governor Palin's beautiful, loving daughter.
The wedding is postponed, not cancelled. Perhaps some Freepers can attend the wedding when it happens.
I would love to meet Sarah. So where is the wedding going to be?
Bttt!
Of course it would be out of character for Bristol and the entire Palin family.
Don’t you know anything about her and them?
Why hasn’t the media discovered all this shacking up, the media which hates the Palins as much as they have ever hated any conservatives and Christians in history?
I know a bit about them. They’re fairly typical from the current American demographic. Sarah Palin has 5 children, two of whom are parents. The first, Bristol, conceived the child out of wedlock, and never married the father. She then lived with another man out of wedlock, ultimately breaking off the engagement.
Mrs. Palin’s son also conceived a child out of wedlock. He married the young lady who was the mother of his child, but then got divorced a short while later.
Again, this is the typical American narrative here in the early 21st century. There is certainly nothing exceptional about this family.
Actually, they are one of the most exceptional families in American history.
Governor Palin is a self made woman who came from school teachers to rise to Alaska’s youngest, and first female Governor and the GOP’s first female vice presidential candidate, and then she helped create and lead one of, if not the most effective conservative movement in American history.
The husband of this native American family, is also a fascinating sports figure.
You are trying to trivialize the leading figure of conservativism in America, and sounding like a nasty bitter, liberal, teen girl, as you attack the daughter for having slept once with her high school sweetheart at age 17.
The Palin family is inspirational in so many ways but I'll focus on the governor's Patriot son Track in this post. This exemplary young man was assigned to an infantry brigade and deployed in September 2008 for a year to one of the most dangerous corners of Iraq where he served our Republic with honor.
I actually meant to use the words ‘more exceptional’, not ‘most exceptional’, but this family has a lot of time to go yet.
Palin is among a handful of the greatest American women in history, and she has made the greatest speeches of any woman in American history.
And she's able to do without a teleprompter (unlike you know who). In her extemporaneous moments, Governor Palin shows her love of country and her knowledge of the Constitution and the Republic's history. Is it any wonder she's in high demand for her superb speeches?
I've also included bigdaddy45 in this followup to hopefully set his mind right when it comes to Governor Sarah Palin. Numerous other posts in this thread shed additional light on the Palin family and I again urge everyone to visit Bristol Palin's blog to get real insight into this fine young Patriotic woman. Like her mom, the daughter expresses herself extremely well.
Once? hahah. ‘Snort’. yeah, you’re funny. I’m sure it was just once.
She described the night that it happened, and under what conditions.
Why are you so obsessed with the night when she was 17?
If you go back and look at the first internet attacks on her “shacking up”, you will notice that she was publishing this in her blog.
Put a Ring on It
April 18, 2012 by Bristol Palin
Have you ever heard of shacking up? Now, people describe living together with a more complimentary phrase: a trial marriage.
“In fact, you may have even recently heard rumors Im living with my boyfriend. As that gossip spread a couple of weeks ago, people all over America were applauding me for finally! coming to my senses and abandoning my no-sex-until-marriage policy. Others are saying that me shacking up with my boyfriend is the height of hypocrisy.
Heres the thing. Its not true. As I mentioned before, I recently bought a home across the lake from my parents house. While its under renovation, Im actually living in an apartment on their property. Rest assured theres no way on earth my mom and dad would allow a guy to spend the night here with me.
But even if I werent temporarily living on their property, I wouldnt move in with someone. Why?”
