If while crossing the street, you are struck by an automobile.
Does it make much difference if you are hit by a Chevy or a Ford?
Greece did not turn its back on anyone. A city council in a Greek town said it wanted the Star of David removed from a monument. That’s it.
There are 321 Greeks among the Righteous among the Nations. There are 4 Americans....
Greece lost a bit more than 15% of its population to the depredations of the Nazis during the war and in the civil war immediately following.
Greeks hid Jews all over the country. My own family did down in Peloponnesus. Did yours? Our Archbishop hid them all over Greece and is listed as Righteous Among the Nations. Metropolitan Gerasimos of Zakynthos, when ordered by the Gestapo to write down the names of all the Jews on the island, wrote one name, Gerasimos!
Hey FreeBeacon. Fix your damned website so that we can print your articles. Lots of mixed crap keep appearing on the stories when I got into Print Preview.
This is the big leagues, here, at FR so let’s have a professional website for all stories. That includes a PRINT ICON.
I'm sure the Greeks didn't exactly enjoy being occupied by their Itie neighbors, but it sure beat the heck out of being ravaged by Hitler's bully-boys. And furthermore, who wouldn't rather be occupied by dark haired folks who make really good pizza and ice cream than by a gang of ill tempered blond haired bullys who think sauerkraut and fatty sausages are the epitome of fine dining?
Wrong person?
.
The star isn’t “of David.”
It came to Israel with one of Solomon’s pagan wives.

.
The hexagram is not really “Jewish.”

Actually, I have a family connection to a couple of Greek families in Tarpon Springs, FL. One of my aunts, now deceased, married a very congenial and likeable gentleman, also deceased, from a Greek family living in that area. That marriage produced two of my youngest 1st cousins, who AFAIK still live and work in that general area.
As you may know, many Greeks immigrated to Tarpon Springs in the early 20th century in order to harvest the sponges that thrive in that sector of the Gulf of Mexico. The Greek divers who work in that industry have since intermarried with local Florida families to the extent that the two cultures and the people themselves have intermingled to the point where both are now simply Americans. Which IMHO is as it should be in this land of immigrants.
We all (myself included) over-think a lot of this stupidity. But I am a huge fan of the reductionist school at the end of the day. And that means all opposition to any of this liberal/evil bullshit starts with one word...
“No”.
Well, obviously some Greeks did!
My aunts down in the old country and some of the older people here at the parish would say “Oh, those poor Italian boys! They missed their mothers and all they wanted was a nice meal and a sympathetic ear....Then the Germans came.”
It wasn't good at all. Not far north of my maternal village, there is a monument at the edge of a cliff in the mountains. It marks the spot were 90 men and boys were machine gunned by the Germans for two offenses, (1) partisan activities and (2) hiding Jews. Names of my relatives are on that monument. Members of my family were hiding Jews while their own house had been commandeered by the local head of the Wehrmacht.
May your family members be of blessed memory.
