ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) Six abandoned kittens named after the kids in "The Brady Bunch" TV series are getting a nurturing boost from an unlikely source a male cat with a slight neurological disorder.
The 3-week-old kittens named Jan, Marcia, Cindy, Greg, Peter and Bobby have been adopted by Henry, an 8-month-old male cat in the southeast Alaska community of Ketchikan.
"We have Henry playing Alice; it was the perfect match," said Heather Muench, comparing the cat's role to that of the lovable live-in housekeeper on the TV series.

I am sure the feral cats are a boom to the local wild life.
Feral?
Children walking home from school one day last week heard the kittens crying. A humane society volunteer living on the island had the kittens flown to Ketchikan.
Abandoned doesn’t sound like anybody owned them
Cute story. When one of my Tom cats sired a litter he cleaned and slept with his kittens whenever the mother got out of the box to eat or use the litter box. He is still like that with his brother and son.I named him Sugar Bear as a result Very sweet kitty.: 0)
boom?
What a sweet, adorable story.
Thanks for brightening an otherwise bad Saturday.
These kittens lived not more than a day in "feral" conditions, and would not have survived long. A person, and most likely a house, was involved here.
"Abandoned" precisely means that somebody owned them, and didn't want to own them any more.
That’s purrfect.
Big AWWWWWW
“Muench, a volunteer with the Ketchikan Humane Society, is caring for the kittens at home after someone put them into a cardboard box and left them on a road between Klawock and Craig on Prince of Wales Island.”
It was easy to miss. ;-)
When I was a kid, two of our females gave birth within days of one another. One of the litters was completely deformed and all three kittens died within a couple of days. Really sad.
So the mothers shared the remaining two kittens between them. They took turns in the box. Both of them nursed and constantly groomed the kittens and one another. The mother who lost her litter went into ‘hunter mode’ about two weeks later and brought in a constant supply of mice, birds, lizards, and small snakes.
Never have there been two babies more loved... and FAT! lol!
Incidentally, the mothers didn’t begin weaning at all until the babies were about four months old. One of the boys never quit. At two years old, he’d beg and the females would flop down and give him a bath while this massive 16 pound tom would go into nursing mode. He was twice their size. Quite ridiculous.
You’re very welcome.
Seconded.
after they were pick off the street is to miss
Before I was born my parents had a pair of cats, Henry and Morris. Henry was oldest by a few years, and my mother was certain that when they brought baby Morris home Henry would try to kill him. But just like this Henry he decided it would be a good idea to nurse Morris instead, and so they continued well into Morris’ adulthood...two unrelated adult male cats nursing away.
(I’m sure there’s some DU troll reading this and thinking it must be evidence of some kind of naturally occurring gayness, but really it’s just that cats can be weirdos!)
Bless ‘em all.
