Pope Francis, before going to the Middle East, called himself the Che Guevara of the Palestine people, a flabbergasting affirmation to identify with and to use El Che as model and inspiration, a mass murderer and genocide of the Cuban people

The problem, as I see it, is how the world has popularized people like Che, vaulting them to the status of demigod in certain circles, while the media laps at the Communist bowl.

If the true words and deeds of Che, as well as others such as Nelson Mandela, were to be broadcasted around the world, perhaps people would take a second look at the idols they so preciously hold and reconsider their stance. Che was an outspoken racist and generally regarded blacks as chattel while Mandela used such despicable methods of torture as "necklacing," but the history of those deeds has been whitewashed to give their causes a chance to thrive. The survivors are the ultimate victims here, as they have to watch as the world pays them little more mind than that of a child tugging at the world's pantleg.
