An N.F.L. investigation has found that it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel intentionally deflated footballs to gain an advantage in the A.F.C. championship game last season, and that Tom Brady, the Super Bowl most valuable player, was probably aware of it.
No penalties have been announced.
The long-awaited report into so-called deflategate, released on Wednesday, concluded that it was probable that Patriots personnel were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules.
The report said that Jim McNally, a locker room attendant, and John Jastremski, an equipment assistant, released air from the footballs. It said that besides those two and Brady, no other Patriots personnel, including Coach Bill Belichick, were aware of the wrongdoing. The report separately determined that the Patriots had not deliberately tried to introduce an improper football for kicking and cleared kicker Stephen Gostkowski of any wrongdoing.

I noticed the media always uses pictures of Tom Brady for this story.
He must have done something politically incorrect.
Maybe. Or maybe not. We’ll have to think about it for a while. Maybe until the next Superbowl so the ESPN talking heads have something to say....
To put it in perspective, if a NASCAR team lowered the pressure by 2 psi, could they beat another team by 6 laps?
That's the standard for prevailing in a civil case. It's the definition of the term "preponderance of the evidence", which is a scintilla above 50 percent.
Ryan Newmans team got busted just a few weeks ago for drilling small holes in the tires so they we would bleed off some of the pressure that builds up during a run. Otherwise, that is the first tire cheating I've heard of in a long time.
“The Black Sox Scandal took place during the play of the 1919 World Series. The Chicago White Sox lost the series to the Cincinnati Reds, and eight White Sox players were later accused of intentionally losing games in exchange for money from gamblers. The players were acquitted in court, but nevertheless, they were all banned for life from baseball.”
BAN`EM FOR LIFE for cheating and lying about it.
it is more probable than not
Meaning we think they did, but can not prove anything.
According to the article at the link, the "penalty phase" hasn't happened yet. Penalties, if any, are TBD.
Seattle wasn’t playing in that game.
Yeah, that’s right—the New England Patriots cheat.
Obama’s America. Nothing to see here, move along.
So the Colts can sue the Patriots, the crybabies. Incidentally the Patriots won, 45-7. Wahhh!
Hey, I was just joking. But I figured that comment would get a few responses. :)
All kidding aside, what’s done is done I guess but maybe in the future the teams should have to turn their balls over pregame for inspection and then be kept/monitored by the nfl throughout the game. If the nfl treats it like their drug screen policy they’ll never get it fixed.
Does “more probable than not” really off-set “45 to 7”?
Except when Junior Johnson said it, it was totally unintelligible.
No, not ONLY because of adjusting the tire pressure.
There would have to be other factors, NOT related to tire pressure, at play in order for a team to beat another team by 6 laps.
Just like there have to be factors at play other than reduced air pressure in footballs for one NFL team to beat another NFL team by a score of 45 to 7.
You are correct sir, my apologies.........got a little ahead of myself there. I’m just tryin’ to wind a few people up, it seems to be a very emotional subject and I’m just in one of those moods.
Perhaps to a Yankee it was unintelligible...
